Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Wow, what a tease of a thread title! Lol!
Having said that, even if Blackmore were to come to the tri-state area, would I make that much of an effort to see him?
I'm at a funny point with live music. In part, I'm just trying to focus my finances on some very real needs (home repair, kids' college, etc), but I am also considering certain acts that are of a certain age, especially ones that I have seen before, and am not making as much of an effort to see them.
I've seen The Who and The Stones a number of times, and they are two of my favorite bands. I doubt I'll see them again, though, because I feel like as fun as it might be, I've seen them when they were in better shape and maybe doing more interesting songs / sets etc.
I'd probably be better served seeing a younger band in their prime at a smaller venue for much less cash.
There are some older artists still breathing fire. Jeff Beck and Steve Hackett come to mind. I did pass on the reunited Van Halen a few years back because, even though I love the Roth line-up, the evidence suggested Dave couldn't cut it live. I'm not sure I'd be inclined to see Jimmy Page again, for the same reason.
Sign me up for the TTB though!!!

Normally I am not that ingenious , but I thought it might suck a few folks in! 😛
Sorry for the ignorance, but the Tri State area is Jersey,NY,CT, right? I live in Middle Earth. 😉
I would go and see Ritchie. I have only seen him once and I really don't count that. It was with Blackmores Night and it was not a whole show.....long story.
. I do understand why they only have done shows in Europe the last couple of years. Rainbow and Ritchie's music is probably still a little more relevant there than the US. I think Europeans are not quite as fickle and maybe have a little more appreciation for that type of genre than what exists here in the states. Ritchie lives in Conn ,so I am not sure why he would not try and do a few shows in the East coast area where there is a larger fan base to get a feel of what
the demand might be. I doubt there would ever be a full scale US tour, but maybe a limited one in larger cities in small to medium venues. Just a thought. Retooling of the band maybe?
I am right on board with you Jim about being at a point in life about seeing live music. I echo the exact same sentiments. Could not have said it better.
You mention Jimmy Page. I have never had the opportunity to see him except for once with the BC but that got cancelled. Jimmy is the reason I picked up the guitar and has been a major influence and inspiration for me to play. I think I would have to go see him, even though I was not very impressed with the last real gig he did in 2007, the O2 with Robert JPJ and Jason. That has been discussed before and not going there now. Wow, that has been 10 yrs ago.
His wife ,Candice, did a podcast interview with Mitch Lafon a few weeks ago and she mentioned there has been some new material recorded with Rainbow and will come out at some point.
I will be starting another thread this weekend hopefully about some DP Ritchie related thoughts.
