Oh man, no.
Wanee friend, rest in peace.
Warmth and comforting vibes to the family.

We are so sorry to get this sad news. We spent some amazing times with TanDan in Macon & Wanee. He was a fantastic tour guide and a friend to everyone.

Very sad news indeed. Kind of eerie...I was going to go to his prayers for tandan thread last night to send some positive energy, and was sidetracked by the news of Lonnie Mack's passing. 🙁
Hope your journey is now filled with peace.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Rest In Peace.

I had just texted him from Wanee as he was heading to the hospital yet again. It didn't sound good but with Dan, you just never know.
He once drove us around Rose Hill in his pick up truck backwards. He is going to be greatly missed by many.

very sad news....RIP and condolences to Dan's family.

In shock hearing about Dan's passing this morning. I texted him a few days before Wanee to see is he was coming. I thought if his son could drive him down, we could get him out of the truck and to the campfire and I would have been happy to sit with him there the whole weekend. He was just too weak to come and now I see why......
I am going to miss the hell out of him... 🙁

We lost one of the good guys today. I'm sad. Dan is going to be missed.

Rory on, Dan!

Sad news! The famAABly has seen another cherished Brother move on to the other side. He was a fine man and a great ambassador and tour guide for all things ABB in and around Macon Ga. RIP TanDan! Rory On!!!!!

So long Tandan.... alas, I hardly knew ye. happy trails brother

So sorry to hear this news. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Alas. This life thing... so fleeting.
RIP.

I'm very sad, but I know he was prepared. His kids had some great milestones recently, which I was happy to see. We saw shows together in Macon, Wanee, Lakewood, Chastain, Piedmont Park, Fox and more. Our last show was Winwood + Randall Bramblett at the Fox 11 months ago with Brock. We stayed in regular contact on the cell, talking and txt in between visits. He was very happy for me when I met my bride as he knew me when I was all kinds of torn up after my divorce a decade ago.
I only met him about 13-14 years ago and only met his son (not his wife or daughter), but I somewhow earned his confidence along the way. We picked it each other up a time or two and could share some tough details that you don't always share. He was a friend and I will miss his company and conversation. I'll miss busting his chops too about Rory and more....RIP Dan.

Rest In Peace Brother Dan
he was a good one and a fighter.... this one is a bit painful.... On the other side, all good.....

This real close to home! RIP Brother

RIP, Thoughts and Prayers to the Family and Friends.

Nice. Thanks hotatlanta!

Dan's wife called me this afternoon to let me know he passed at 6:55 this morning. She was surprised that I already knew. One of his family members had posted it on FB several hours earlier.
She told me that arrangements will be made tomorrow and it will be a memorial service for him where friends could tell some stories about him.
I plan on going, and hopefully I will see some of y'all there. If you can't come and the family certainly understands the logistics, I urge you to take a video of yourself with thoughts and memories of Dan and put them on a cd and send to his family. I think that would be a nice touch

Dan and I bonded over our mutual love of Rory Gallagher shortly after I first started posting here.
We traded more than a bit of music back and forth in the last few years and in the process....he turned me into a hardcore Townes Van Zandt, Larry McMurtry, and Guy Clark fan.
But except for one chance meeting in Macon in 2010, where I happened to meet him and his wife purely by chance entering the H&H just as I was leaving, ( I recognized him by photos posted here) ,our friendship was pretty much email and music trading related with the occasional phone call thrown in.
But, regarding that meeting in Macon. He and his wife were on their way to see their son at band camp and even though they were on a tight schedule, Dan insisted on taking me on a quick mini version of his famous Macon tour, filling in a couple important ABB stops that were not in the guide that I had obtained from the Macon tourist office.
That was it. A little over a half hour spent with him and his wife, driving through Macon in his pickup and chatting about the ABB when they should have been on their way to their important engagement.
But, if you know Dan, that was just Dan being Dan, ever gracious and considerate.
It was brief but wonderful and I'm so glad that I will carry that happy memory with me for the rest of my days.
RIP TanDan
Rory On brother ...
