81 is a pretty respectable age for a rock 'n roller. Here's to the man who wrote the first song on the first Allman Brothers album (and, as a huge Traffic fan, introduced Steve Winwood and Dave Mason)

The Spencer Davis Group kinda got overshadowed by the poppier songs and images of the Beatles and Stones - but they had so much more soul than the formers. "I'm a Man", "Gimme Some Lovin'" - if their catalog was just those two songs, they'd deserve Hall of Fame status. Jam in Peace, Spence'.
