RIP Robbie Robertson

As a song writer his use of characters and perspective was among the best. His songs were like novels or films. The Band kinda got over played on Classic Rock radio but their songs and music will always hold up. He made his mark.

Oh yes years after the Weight and other Robbie songs were released, Levon Helm complained that Robbie only wrote 60 to 70 percent of those songs with other band members including himself adding and/or changing things as The Band worked up the songs for completion and the arrangement.
But Robbie got all the money!!! Sounds vaguely familiar.

His 1994 CD Music for the Native Americans, I love as much as The Band
Robbie was great in The Last Waltz, his love of the band was obvious & you could see how much he wanted to leave it on a good note
for all time
sad day indeed - RIP, Robbie - we are in your debt, take care & know that you are loved

Those two great guitarists, driving creative forces of their bands, tremendous musicians
up there on that Watkins Glen stage for one last play
to be continued every Aug 9, the day they both joined the club🎸😇⛅️🎶

Rest in peace. Love everything about the Band. A great force in my life.

One of my favorite musicians. His prolific writing was the soundtrack for a generation. A man that left his mark in the music industry. We can all be glad we were able to grow with his talent. He will be greatly missed! Hard to believe Garth Hudson is the only original band member left.

this one hit hard. a major talent

I don't remember Duane Allman saying Robbie Robertson was his favorite guitarist but that is what it says here!!!!!!

Sprinsteen's last encore for both Chicago shows was "I'll See You In My Dreams", which is on his last album as kind of a tribute to former E Street Band members. He dedicated it to Robbie Robertson. Certainly not an uplifting way to end 3 hours of rock, but very nice nonetheless.
I loved The Band. Levon Helms' autobiography is very enlightening.

Robbie and Eric playing hot guitar together. Audio could be better but this is the best I could find from the 1970's.

Perhaps, he isn't one to mix things up much even if he plays multiple nights in the same place. It's why I never liked seeing him two nights. Like the ABB when Dickie was still there.
The first night in Chicago he actually dedicated it to Robbie. Not sure if he did so the second night when they played it.

I said he doesn't mix things up much, which is true. Didn't say it was EXACTLY the same.
As to whether it is the end of the band, who knows? That's all speculation I suppose. Bruce did this before, in the early 90s which really bothered me. But I went to two of the shows without E Street and I liked it. Then they got back together.
Of course, now everyone is older so if they were to break up, I doubt they would get back together. Again, speculation.
