RIP Jim Ladd

Passed away over the weekend. I’m much too young to know him from his earlier days, but enjoyed his daily shows on XM’s Deep Tracks for a long time now.
They did a nice tribute show to him tonight.

Farewell to "the Last DJ" (as per Tom Petty).

Posted by: @dinoGrowing up in So Cal, Jim Ladd was part of my soundtrack from Jr High thru High School. Thank you Jim for your "headsets" and the fantastic “Innerview”. Your passion for the music was palpable. RIP
Jim Ladd on KMET 10 pm to 2 am. I don't know where to begin. One show (and I just remembered it) was just after a song ended, he abruptly cut in and told about the failed mission to rescue the Iranian embassy hostages. I can't recall what he played after but I remember staring at the ceiling in my room being stunned and sad.
He lived and shared all things Rock music. Rock In Peace Jim 🌹

Man - big loss. Living in Chicago, I only got into Ladd the past 5-10 years.
Thank you satellite radio ---- not sure I ever would've known about him otherwise.
He sure seemed to love what he did and he sure seemed to love the Allmans!

Just noticed this thread. Sad to hear this news.
Looks like Jim's passing has also led to the demise of the Deep Tracks Sirius XM channel on its car service, although still available on the streaming service. So enjoyed Jim and his deep musical knowledge.

dzobo --- Like JamOn and maybe others before it, Deep Tracks got relegated to the low 300s. I still get it on my car radio but you have to tune it all the way there.
Interestingly, it got even deeper in its repertoire since the move.

yeah, 308. You can still get it in the car.
and agree, it has become even “deeper.” Not sure if I enjoy the tunes as much, but I’m hearing all kinds of music I’ve never heard before, so am using it as a learning experience.
definitely a more prog-rock bent, imho.
my fear is the move to 300’s means the end of real dj’s. That’s what happened with JamOn. And when that happens, XM basically becomes Pandora.
