May Gregg's spirit rest peacefully with God. My condolences to his family, band mates and friends. Words cannot express my deep sadness today and since Butch passed. It is the end of a sweet era.

Such a deep sadness to hear this. Always held out the hope that Gregg's health was going to improve. Will be so missed. May the circle be unbroken.

RIP Gregg Allman - So much to tell about my love and experiences with the Allman Brothers Band. Even Doc Watson listened to the Allman Brothers, as told to me by my friend Sam Bush. Soon, I will attempt to look through my 900-plus interviews and collect the mentions of Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers band as they are many.......and it literally happened again just this week when I interviewed 28 year old High Country musician Chaz Smith, whose band Loathsome Marauders plays tonight at Reckless Arts Gallery and Venue on King Street in Boone. You can read it here;

We soared so high and glided in so many times for a smooth landing at The Beacon.
How blessed by God have we been to enjoy his music for all these years?
I just want to say how true is it?
That you all indeed are "a great bunch".

I have lost my musical hero. I had a bad feeling a while back Gregg wouldn’t be with us much longer.
Deeply saddened in shock still. The first time I heard Brothers & Sisters I knew this was as good as it gets.
I’m feeling numb this morning.
I’ll be playing Allman Brothers all week in tribute to the great man.

Gregg would put so much energy and passion into his music, it was beyond the call of duty. Thank you Gregg Allman for your incredible passion and great songs.

My heart goes out also today to all the Allman Brothers fans who are feeling like I do today.

Just read on a friends FB page. Shocked and saddened. RIP brother Gregg. Been following this band since 1971 when a high school teacher came into class one day and mentioned Duane Allman passed away. I went out and got my first ABB album and been a fan ever since. Fly high brother.

Sad beyond words. And remembering nights at Wanee and loving when Gregg would say "the night is so young". I love you, Gregg Allman. Thank you for sharing your unique talent with the world. Your music will live on forever!

I'm shocked and greatly saddened by the loss of my friend and musical hero. He had a heart of gold and was a great and brave man. I'll miss him but he had quite a life, lived to the fullest.

You and the abb where my mentor to never give up guitar and escalate me in to more blues going as far as buying a resonator a few years back. Ill miss you Gregg. I was thinking of you and the abb at last Fridays nights Live Dead and Airplane alumni performance. Had 1st row left side.
