RIP Drummer Hal Blaine. Played drums on 40 number 1 singles

Drummer Hal Blaine has died at age 90. Blaine was especially talked about in the 1960s. Blaine may be the most recorded drummer in music history. 35,000 sessions and is the drummer on 40 singles which went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Its Blaine playing drums on songs by The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The 5th Dimension, Simon and Garfunkel etc etc etc and is the drummer on Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra which reached number one on the Hot 100 in 1966.

The amount of popular music Hal Blaine played on is just staggering. Simply turning on a radio, you still hear him everywhere today and likely will for eons to come.
R.I.P. to the Big Beat...What a legacy.

Blaine told a magazine that Bruce Gary, who played drums in the Knack, was once asked who his favorite drummer was.

“He was never so disappointed in his life to find out that a dozen of his favorite drummers were me.”
