A TRIBUTE FROM MICK FLEETWOOD AND FLEETWOOD MAC:
Today was greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kirwan in London, England. Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.
Danny’s true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured for over fifty years.
Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will forever be missed!

In my opinion, the brief period with Green, Spencer, and Kirwan as a triple guitar threat was the Mac's finest hour. Those 1970 Boston Tea Party shows that were recently repackaged (again) are my go-to discs for the band.
You also can't dismiss the three albums with heavy Kirwan contributions. He might be the most underappreciated guitar player in the history of the band, and he wrote some great songs as well.
Sad life for a great artist.
I also love his work with Mac.
His solo albums were also quite good.

If you watch that great black and white video of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac doing “Oh Well,” you’ll notice that Danny Kirwan plays all the leads.
Hard to believe he was only 18 when he joined the group.

The early Mac is special. I love it, There's a few gems out there. The Studio package released a few years back is great, I have the Tea Party upgrades from a decade or so ago. I remember some cool extras on those. The early Mac holds the best compliment a musician/band can receive..... They're Forever Relevant'
