Sad. Just so sad. My hope is that there can be some peace and healing for all of the hearts that are hurting.

I just can't believe it. I had just seen him 2 nights in a row with Les Brers back in October; at the Fillmore in Philly and the next night at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. He, along with Jaimoe, even signed the back cover of my vinyl copy of the first ABB album.
Just shocked, saddened and stunned. I will miss Freight Train a whole lot

Do yourself a favor and go to the thread 7-9-1970 ABB Stony Brook and download this show. Sit back and enjoy this band that we love. A new show surfaces from the original 6. It is very healing... Long live the Allman Brothers Band.

RIP Butch! Like most here, I've been listening to ABB nonstop with new appreciation for how tasteful your playing is. I hope the Trucks family gets the major support it needs to recover; I know it will take a long time. Prayers.

His death affects me deeply. I wish strength and faith to his family. I love Butch Trucks....everything he was and wanted to be....

Just saddened beyond belief. Even sadder knowing now that Butch had gotten into such a hopeless state that he couldn't process and thrive on the love for him. My heart breaks for him for having to endure such anguish that he couldn't rise above it.
Condolences to his family and loved ones. Love to all my brothers and sisters here.

the cause of death doesn't make it easier or worse or whatever. he is sadly gone for whatever reason. we were not in his shoes

You were a night drummer on the ridge line
Circled by white moon and silver trees
Thunder blows echoed through the valley
For that one moment we were free

hearing the cause was devastating news. heard one of my best friend's found out her Cancer had spread last night and she is in for quite a fight.
Sorry to hear your friend is having to fight harder. That must be painful for you. I wish her a successful fight. Best to you.

My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace Butch

Read this earlier this morning, looks like its true. So very sad he ended his life this way. Nobody knows what must of been going on inside his head to contemplate taking his own life. Reading his last interview, he didn't seem like a man about to take his life, quite the opposite in fact. May you now rest in peace Butchie.

So sad, sad, sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. RIP Butch, Love your music.

Praying for the Trucks family. So sad.

So sorry to hear this sad news. He was a great drummer, one of the best I ever saw in concert.

Wondered the same thing -- got the drift, Butch was about music, but should've been posted elsewhere -- great photo of Dickey, Butch & Jaimoe
the 5 man shows became sad to listen to after a certain point, so in my sad state of mind have been revisiting those
1/25, Atlanta (Mtn.Jam, Les Brers)
3/23, Price Hall, Jackson Ala
Syracuse (Manley Fieldhouse) still to come
RIP Butch -- you gave so much

When I first heard Wednesday morning, I was numb with disbelief. I put the Fillmore Recordings on and read the postings on Facebook.....tears just started flowing. Butch and the Brothers have been part of my life in one form or another for over 47 years. The amount of joy they have given me is immeasurable. I only hope his family and friends can find peace....all our prayers and thought are with them. Rest In Peace Butch

Here's the birth of a new Jimmy Herring project:

This pertains to Butch Trucks RIP how?
Presumably a well intended effort to bring some positive news to this thread. I see nothing wrong with that.

🙁

Just awful news in every which way for Butch, his family and the legion of fans who so adore the Allman Brothers. I am one of them.
A remembrance: May 1973 Nassau Coliseum. It was the first time I saw the ABB, and obviously left a remarkable impression lasting to this day. I have so many memories of watching the band play that night, it was a mesmerizing experience. One of those memories was the drum solo that Butch and Jaimoe laid out. If I remember correctly, it was in Les Brers in A Minor but I can never forget the spotlight switching off between Butch and Jaimoe as they laid down their rhythmic pattern for the ages.
I also remember thinking "does this band ever sing?" I was so digging their jamming capabilities, and of course this version of the band had Chuck in it, they were so jazzy and light it was great. Now...things have not been the same for awhile without Dickey in spite of the heroic efforts of Derek and Warren, and can never be the same without Butch Trucks. Bless him and his family

Does anyone know if Dickey, Jaimoe or Marc have publicly commented on the tragic event?

I feel compelled to say that we do not know that Butch was 'mentally ill'.
We know only that he was in enough pain to want to put a stop to it.
We don't and may never know 'why'
He gave of himself to us for decades, through the medium of music.
He brought joy and peace and medicine to many.
May his family know peace.

I just want to send healing vibes and prayers to everyone on here. My sincerest condolences go out to everyone in the entire Trucks family and the extended Allman Bros. family- may Brother Butch rest in Great Peace. OM MANI PADME HUNG and Amen.

This is so sad.I pray for the Trucks family. My nephew did the same about a year and a half ago.Still hurts but it gets a little better. Can you hear that jam session with Duane,Berry, and Butch?

Just walked by The Beacon on my way home from work listening to Dreams from 10/27/14 (second to last show) and there was a little bit of snow coming down and it sounded great and just felt peaceful.

I wish there was more I could do, WE could do...feeling helpless.
I cant help thinking about the Trucks family, the wife and children.
Am praying, sure, it just doesn't seem enough .
if only we could turn back the hands of time..

Has there been any comments from Dickey or am I foolish for expecting something?

maybe he said RIP my old friend.....that's good enough.....even if he said it when he found out
