Farewell to one of the greatest singers of all time.  "Hooked on a Feeling", "Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head", his cover of Hank Williams, "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry" and "Rock and Roll Lullaby" - just a few of songs graced by his golden pipes.  AM radio material, but some of the finest songwriting and singing ever.  Sad.

Whenever I hear "Raindrops Keep Falling on MY Head" I always think of the Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid scene. I didn't know there was any controversy about it, I thought it fit well.

@lee Wow the executives at 20th Century Fox didn't like the song and Robert Redford didn't either. But Burt Bacharach had been hired with his lyricist Hal David and they came up with it and wanted it in the film. Also getting B. J. Thomas to sing it was odd.

But they were all wrong as the song became a number one hit single and Burt and David won an Oscar at the Academy Awards.

About 1967 I heard I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry on the radio and liked it so I bought it at Woolworths. I seem to remember it was on the Smash lable. The only record by B. J. Thomas I ever bought.
