I had the pleasure of seeing Richie with his band at Darrly's House in Pawling NY last night with my wife and another couple. Had great seats right at the front of the stage. Richie did a two hour show with a two song encore. His voice sounded excellent and the band was good. He performed songs from Buffalo Springfield, SHF, Poco and his new CD called Hand in Hand. He told plenty of interesting stories about the folks he has played with over his career (Neil Young and Steve Stills in particular). He is 70 years old and has been married to his wife for 42 years! He is a talented songwriter/singer/performer who has not lost sight of the fact that God has given him his talent and he is destined to share it. (His quote not mine).What a humble and grounded man, and I was thoroughly entertained.
Good for you! From what little bit I've seen of this newly custom built venue on "Live From Darryl's House," being right at the front of the stage must have been fantastic. Can't wait to see the first episode from Darryl's new restaurant/bar...
I've always loved Richie. At 70 his vocals are still excellent. When Buffalo Springfield reunited for a few shows several years ago, Richie's vocals were showcased. He was recently inducted into Colorado Music HOF with Poco. Here's a clip from that. Front row left to right - Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Richie, & Tim Schmit.
