I've been playing with EAC and can't get it to remove the gaps on a vine show I have.

I have went into the EAC menu and selected "delete leading and trailing silent blocks", but that didn't work.

I went into under action to detect the gaps, which didn't do anything. Tried doing something with the Que sheet with the gaps and haven't been able to get it to do what I want.

The gaps are at the end of the track, not the beginning of the next track.

I'm not well versed with using EAC, just know enough to get it to do the simple things. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thank you.

If the silences are part of the track you have to edit the track with Audacity or similar audio software. My trouble was getting rid of the slight pop left behind after editing out the silent part to get it to flow into the next track seamless. Haven't figured that one out.

I don't think you can do that kind of cutting on EAC

Hello Scott, I can remove the gaps and repair the pops with SoundForge and re-track with CD Wav editor. (You can also de-hiss, eq, put effects... with SoundForge).
PM me and I'll fix it for you.

The pops are probably due to sector boundary errors (SBE) which can be avoided if you set one of the drop-down menus in selection start or audio position to "CDDA Frames" and check the "snap to" box.

thnks Canada! well, it is Moody Blues "Lost Chord" MFSL, phenom sound, a rip from a friend. The intro Track 1 where there is this British guy raving about whatever, then there is that siren note that leads into "Ride My Seesaw". Right there at the start of track two there is a gap! Brutal! The gap was on track 1 so I edited it with Audacity, but was left with that little pop artifact.

Not going to send this out to Canada, but would like to know if you can remove the pop on Soundforge and not be left with a gap? Is Soundforge freeware?

And also thx absnj, I'll try that... no clue but I'm sure if I click around enough I'll find the CDDA thing!

Use the fade in or fade out option after deleting silence from either side of the file

Thanks Stephane. I appreciate the offer.

I should look into getting those programs so I can play around with that stuff myself. Thanks for the tip.

Not sure why I had thought that EAC was able to do this.

No it doesn't leave a gap, usually a pop is only on one of the track, so you only repair the part that is damaged (it's only a fraction of a second so you can't notice it).

SoundForge isn't free.
