Thanks.
I play most of my music via CD then some via satellite radio and a little by streaming, some by media player and some by cassette (older vehicles with tape decks). Once in a blue moon I play vinyl.
I think the article makes a couple good points. I think CDs sound good to my ears compared to vinyl. My vinyl always has the pops and clicks. I can play CDs clean and loud and what I like better is I can load several into my player in an "ondeck" kind of way and use my remote to navigate track to track disc to disc. Can't do that with vinyl. Sure you can make a play list with any media player, but sometimes I change my mind on the fly, just exchange the next disc while the current disc is playing and it's ready to go without navigating and searching a bunch of menus.
I also like to stare at my CD shelves to get some ideas of what I want to hear or hear next. When I scroll through the lists in my media player, it just isn't the same....scrolling artist names by A-B-C-D-E...instead...I just skim my shelves and find what I want.
The booklets in CDs are nice.
And they are cheap. I see some songs you can buy for .99 each download, many times you can buy a physical copy of the CD for less on average per song. CDs for like $5-6 now, most under $10. Sure maybe I rip it and put it on a media player or hard drive to play somehow, but I like having the original source material I can rip from again should some files go corrupt.
Wasn't sure who was making good players these days. Not all of us are going to go for a McIntosh, but I should maybe look for a good newer player, even as a back up years down the road if nothing else. My CD player is a Sony C2000ES Super Audio player but I don't play too many super audio CDs now.
