Radle

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
Carl. Friggin Radle.
I’m listening to the Dominos Live and man if he does just rock a groove. He’s so fun to listen to.

Did a lot of great session work also. One of best bass players. Period ...

Truly great bassist in the vein of Duck Dunn and David Hood. Very underrated.

Leon Live. Legendary. Clapton's first album. My gosh. Leon's band during that 70-73 period was as good as any out there and Carl was a huge part of it. He and drummer Chuck Blackwell killed it every night. The Deep Freeze DVD has countless great shots of Carl in Charlotte and LA. Saw him in Knoxville within a few days of the Charlotte show. Don Preston was a hell of a guitarist. That's Leon's band (minus Carl Radle but plus Duck Dunn) on Freddie Kings "Getting Ready" album on Shelter.

I agree that Carl is one of the best bass players. Derek and the Dominos was an excellent band. A supergroup. And Duane Allman was invited to join. But because Eric Clapton has never seemed to be able to commit to a band long term, this group dud not last. If it had continued for 10 or more years this band would have been as noted in rock history as the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band, Fleetwood Mac, etc etc.
Every musician in this band was first rate.
Jim Gordon, according to Eric Clapton, was the greatest rock drummer in history. The Buddy Rich of rock drummers.

Didnt Eric meet Carl and Jim while recording Harrisons All Things Must pass?

believe that's right -- possibly also in Delaney Bonnie & Friends, but gosh, that 2016 footage pops42 posted of Bonnie -- what a lady
the way the floor rumbles w/Carl's bottom end during the middle passage of Tell The Truth ("I can see, I can see it ya.....") -- he was some player, & as was pointed out, Jim -- also a great musician -- Layla, ATMP & Low Spark are three of the All Time Greats & he's a key reason why
