Radio Live: The Allman Brothers Band

Rhapsody just added this to their ABB page. I've spent 15 minutes trying to find information about this live recording on the internet and Google isn't helping. I also searched Hittin The Web and am not finding anything. It's obviously Duane's era and I love the slightly slower version of Statesboro Blues they lead off with. Anyone clue me in where this was recorded and when? Thanks.

Listened to Rhapsody and here are the details: 8-26-71 A & R STUDIOS in NYC. This broadcast was live as part of a series of live performance broadcasts sponsored by WPLJ ( Prior to the Brothers performance the station call letters were WABC). Notable from the broadcast was the insertion of King Curtis's Soul Serenade towards the end of You Don't Love Me. King Curtis was shot dead 2 weeks earlier in the city and Duane properly acknowledged and honored his life with the Soul Serenade jam. The Brothers have had a tradition of honoring musical pioneers in their live performances. In their final Beacon run The Brothers honored the memory of Jack Bruce by inserting the Cream song Politician into Elizabeth Reed on Saturday night October 25th.

The A & R show is a classic..it is always out here on a vine..a must listen

Thanks for details. The sound quality is great and Duane kicks butt.
