Thanks for posting Polk Salad Annie which I had forgotten about. I'm old enough to remember rock radio stations playing it alongside The Beatles, Stones, Hendrix etc. A true crossover hit and just a great tune.

Anyone who only knows him from the song Polk Salad Annie needs to pick up one of the compilations that includes both selections from his early Monument Records period as well as his later Warner Brothers days. But be warned. You WILL want more.

Tony Joe White played a spot on David Letterman with The Foo Brothers backing him a year or so before his final show and you can see it here.

Letterman's response to the performance is well worth seeing. He was gushing ! But then, Dave always was a huge music fan and he knew good music when he heard it.
