Just read that. Awful news.
RIP

I just read this, very sad news. Rest in peace and thank you for the music.

Heartsick over her passing, we just loved her and the Dap Kings.
She fought so hard for so long just to bring us her music, and then fought again against the c----r.
Sharon may you rest in peace and surrounded by joyful music.
May your family find peace.

I logged in to post this very sad news but then i found this topic. The Grim Reaper is certainly working over time
in 2016 🙁 .
Very sad news indeed. Daptones Records and especially their biggest treasure Sharon Jones are essential ingredients of the Soul music revival of recent years. What a major talent again silenced by effin' cancer.
But Long Live Her WonderFul Music! Rest In Peace Sharon! Your couragous fight is over.

Sad news.
I had tickets to see her for the first time in August but the tour was cancelled for obvious reasons.
It seems we wake up every day to news of another fatality.

Saw Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings multiple times, most recently at Red Rocks in 2015. My wife and I are deeply saddened. Prayers to her family and associates.

I've seen Sharon several times. What a superbly talented woman and a class act. May she RIP. Oh, and EFFFFF cancer!!!! #anothergonetoosoon 🙁

Amazing woman, tremendous loss. She was a corrections officer at Rikers Island and an armored car guard before embarking on her career at 40. What a gift.

The pride of North Augusta, SC. She had moved back to NA, SC from Brooklyn to care for her mother who eventually passed, and she stayed in SC afterward. I'm not sure if she passed in NY or SC. But she was active in the music/theater community in Augusta. This is almost as bad as when we lost James Brown. 🙁

According to the LA Times, she was in upstate NY. Remarkable woman, she was singing right until the end.
