R.I.P. Robert Hunter

So sad to hear about this. Thanks for all the great songs.

So many great songs he wrote - saw him mid 70s, played all those Dead ones & ones from the J S Dragonfly album, others
Thanks for all the great music, Robert Hunter

a monster talent

Feeling old right now.
What a great body of work Robert leaves.
I always enjoy researching the roots of the songs and how some go back in literate history for inspiration.
Thanks Robert.
I'm sure Jer gave you a high five for a job well done.

Man, another great one.
RIP Mr Hunter

🙁 R.I.P. Mr Hunter

Saw him a few times. Saw the Dead a few hundred times. This one hurts. He will be missed! Bummer.

One of my favorite things he ever did was his 1984 album on Relix Records, Amagamalin Street, with John Cipollina and Jorma on guitar and Merl Saunders on keyboards. Really worth a listen if you ever get a chance.

I have a few Grateful Dead, Jerry and
Dead related titles and this is one of them Mr. Frost. It's nice on a Sunday morning. Haven't played. It in several years. Going to dig it out and remember Mr. Hunter.
Go to You Tube and type in "There is Frost on the Moon" by Tommy Dorsey and Edyth Wright for something different
Nice up tempo from way back.

Astounding loss. Robert Hunters musical eloquence through his lyrics is a tour de force. He and Garcia were an amazing team and wrote some of the best and most interesting music in our time. So sorry to hear this news and it most be so rewarding to his family and legions to know his words and spirit will live on . Not many can say that

These are coming just a bit too often as the greying of America proceeds. Not likely to slow up.
Too bad the Dead pulled his portrait from the Workingman’s Dead cover, he more than earned it. Shame he had to tour to pay medical bills. Two sides to every story I guess.
I think Garcia-Hunter wrote more songs than Lennon-McCartney. Hunter was so prolific as the following shows:

I prefer instrumental music as I find most lyrics banal but Hunter’s were literary, full of imagery, allusion, myth, and religious allegory. Brillant.
Thanks for it all, Robert.

Ripple is just a masterpiece you can just smile with. Loved his writings, Jerry's Taupin.
