I LOVE good Rockabilly music and to me this guy took it up to another level.  His two records in the 70's with guitarist Link Wray are classics:  "Robert Gordon w/ Link Wray" and "Fresh Fish Special".  R.I.P. Robert Gordon!  Most of you who are advanced in age like me will remember "Red Hot":

Thanks. He was fantastic. Who was the bass player who casually reached over and played a killer piano solo while keeping the bass line going with his left hand?

@alpaul:  Hi Al.  It's Rob Stoner who I KNOW you've heard of, he's been around the block a time or two.  I have a compilation which includes "Robert Gordon w/ Link Wray" and "Fresh Fish Special" and also 9 bonus tracks.  Stoner is in the credits for the first record I just mentioned which includes Red Hot:  "Rob Stoner -  Bass, Piano".  Producer Richard Gottehrer also played piano on the record.  Stoner also played bass only on Fresh Fish Special.  From the liner notes:

"Gordon moved to New York in the early 70's with his wife and young family and abandoned music for a few years to survive.  When his marriage fell apart he began working with punk band the Tuff Darts, appearing with them on the seminal Live At CBGB's.  This stint brought him to the attention of legendary producer and songsmith Richard Gottehrer, who was in the process of taking Blondie from the Lower East Side to the world.

Paired with genius rock guitarist Link Wray, who had been mastering fuzz-tone distortion at the same time Elvis was first blending black and white music in Memphis' Sun Studio, Gordon cut two kinetic albums under Gottehrer for the Private Stock label (later reissued on RCA).  It was a credible combination which fused musical generations."

Great news for anyone who is interested:  Amazon has this same compilation (with only one bonus track) for $13.98:

This is some heavy, heavy music. Way too heavy for me. I listened to the whole thing. Winterland 1974.
