RIP dear Leon-my first musical hero.
I saw Leon in '73 after listening to his early albums and loving them.
His role in Mad Dogs & The Englishman was stunning...my favorite piano player-a great bass player too.
Through Leon & the Brothers i discovered the blues...what a gift.
I had a huge Leon poster in my room & continued to see him over the years.
Just yesterday i checked his tour schedule.
This is very sad...a great loss to music & great energy on the planet...
RIP LEON.

Saw Leon Russell in 1970 @ Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim, CA with a few other acts you might recognize....RIP

RIP 🙁
A SONG FOR YOU - Leon Russell & Friends (1971)
[Edited on 11/13/2016 by LeglizHemp]

Absolute legend, I am so glad i got to watch him recently.....

This year has been so bad for the Rock scene damn

I love you in a place where there's no space and time
I love you for my life, you are a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singing this song to you
another addition to that Great Jam Band in the Heavens
Thank You for your music Leon
Many Wonderful Memories

I first saw Leon at Painters Mill(site of Duane's last show), in Maryland...1975? Oh man, what a show, what a presences he had. He and his wife at the time, Mary, walked right by me as they were leaving the stage. I've always loved Leon. He will be missed, but his music lives on.

I read the sad news this morning. Rest in peace and thank you for the music Leon.

RIP Leon. Thank you for your gift of music to us all

I was also lucky to see Leon twice in the last few years, sure glad I did, thanks for the great music Leon, R.I.P.

Another great one gone.
I remember way back when, sitting in the car near the water on Long Island and there was this extended wild live music being played on the radio and it kept going and I thought I need to know who this is - turned out it was the Mighty Quinn Medley from Leon Live and that was the first time I opened my eyes to Leon.
The music lives on while Leon can Rest In Peace with many musical brothers and sisters welcoming him to the other side.

Just a stranger in a strange land ... RIP Leon.

I probably saw Leon ten times over the last 15 years. He sounded better and interacted more with the audience in February 16 than any other time.
Rip Leon!!!

Derek & Susan came to Chicago last December for two nights. The first night Leon opened and the second night was "An Evening With", so two TTB sets. I only wanted to pay for one night and I wanted to see Leon so I chose the first night. I had front row of the loge which are great seats. I ended up winning tickets thru one of the local rock radio stations. Ended up being in the front row. I could barely see Leon over the size of his piano.
Of course, he was great. Played a handful of Mad Dogs & Englishmen. During a break in the TTB set, they wheeled his piano back out to the other side of the stage and he played two songs with them. Couldn't hear him over Susan's voice, but it was still cool.
A true gem. God Rest His Soul.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

He was one of the best! I still listen to his records often. RIP
