R.I.P. Kenny Rogers

Passed away peacefully at home.
We'll miss him.

Met him in 1970 at an First Edition concert. He wasn't getting special billing then. Billed just as the First Edition and they had a hit single. I was an MC at the theater and Kenny, a girl member and the guitar player rode with me to a nearby restaurant after the show. It wasn't long they became Kenny Rogers and the First Edition then by about 1973 just Kenny Rogers p

very sad. RIP

Sad, sad day. Farewell to the Gambler.
On the day that Gregg died, I attended a TTB show in Jacksonville. "Just Dropped In (to See What Condition my Condition Was In)" was playing on the house system. The younger attendees were rockin' out to this heavy dose of psychedelia! A few of them asked me if I knew who the performer was. "That's "the Gambler"", I told them. They were stunned!
Rest in peace, Kenny.

My ex's Mother loved his music and she barely spoke English. One year for her birthday I sent her to Westbury to his show. My at the time esposo was so pissed off. He had to take her there and he did not like his music. She loved it. I got along better with her than him and we'd talk all the time me in broken Spanish and her in broken English. How could anybody not like Kenny Rogers?

1969 The Gambler released this tune. I have always associated him with this tune.
Thank you to all who served

If I had a nickel for every time I was told I looked like KR, I'd be retired. Iconic singer. He'll be missed. 🙁

The NYT had a picture of Kenny onstage in his obit article the other day. In the background was Trey, so I went back to find where Kenny might've guested with Phish. 6/10/12 Bonaroo they did the Gambler.
Love how Kenny walks onstage and you can hear him go, "this is a bit of a let down after that, isn't it"
Phish had just played, rather ordinarily imo, a fast temp tune called Axilla. Kenny must've thought was some intense shit.
RIP to an American icon
