Not really crazy, JMO but I think Ticketmaster has figured out that the best place to do dynamic pricing is with a presale as you hook the hardcore fans who are worried they will not be able to get the choice seats if they wait for the general ticket sales. The faster tickets sell during presale the more they can dynamically increase prices real time.
With a little patience, I think you would find you can get choice seats for less as the concert dates gets closer and the initial feeding frenzy has passed.
At least this has been my experience when buying Rolling Stones tickets with dynamic pricing in the past.
If sales slow down after the public sales I expect prices to drop. Just a feeling on my part

serious buyers remorse . Looks like this was a Dolan scheme to make up for lost March revenue at The Beacon.
The prices are insane . This band of Brothers will be great but the cost of doing business here is unreasonable . Im sure if they would have announced the prices when they advertised the show most of us would have bailed or settled for something under $ 100.00 during the public sale or stayed home altogether .
Dickey is smart for avoiding this Dolan cash grab. I can afford to pay these prices but that does not justify the cost of entry . This is music we're talking about . I don't believe Duane, Berry, Butch and Gregg are appearing on March 10th at The Garden. No disrespect to Jaimoe, Warren, Derek , Oteil , Mark , Reese , Chuck and Duane Trucks but this is not The Allman Brother's Band.
If Butch was alive and proceeds of the show would be going to help him pay off his debt to The IRS i would feel a heck of a lot better about this type of show and these prices .
1st song of the set should be 'The High Cost of Low Living' .
Other than the money i'm stoked to see Warren and Derek playing together again for one night

I sympathize with those having sticker shock but what were you expecting as far as ticket prices were concerned? This is not a Govt Mule Theater show where you can still get tickets in the first 10 rows for under $ 100. This is a one-off reunion/ tribute anniversary show of a legendary band at MSG so of course tickets are going to be expensive.
In all honesty, I am actually surprised they are not more expensive when you compare it to big name classic rock acts like the Stones, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac etc. For those band floor seats would be $500+
Bands do not make any money off of selling their music anymore, with it all available free on the internet, as they make it playing live so welcome to the new music industry model.
If Gregg and Butch were alive and strong, and this was at the Beacon instead of MSG, then I'd say $350 per ticket is a steal for such a show. But they are offering $215 for upper level at an arena, with two less original members.
I agree the prices excessive Sky but that is the current business model for concerts in demand. Like I said I found buying Stones tickets that they were charging the high prices during the presales to hook the hardcore fans and then later dynamically reducing prices later once the feeding frenzy subsided.
I learned the hard way buying tickets at the high prices the first time for the Stones but once I learned how dynamic pricing worked I got tickets in the lower bowl for other Stones shows for less than 1/2 the presale prices by waiting until after the public sale.
Maybe I am misreading demand but I would guess this will work the same for this concert.

Whoa $558+ fees for a good seat,, section 108, I think I'll wait a bit.
I am fine with memory of the Beacon 2nd last show and Les Brers.
I'll check again in a few days.

In this case, one must "outscam" this rigged TM system.
Strategy?
Wait until the last 2 days before and up until showtime.
Be prepared to accept not going.
Tickets will drop for this.
My issue is parking in NYC. That alone is enough to keep me away.
But I still have a few fav spots along Central Park West that never let me down in the Beacon days.
So I'm waiting until day of show and sharpening a big harpoon for Stubhub.

Even the Amex presale selection was poor and subject to others beating you to the tickets.
Was prepared to wrap a vacation week in NYC around this show.
The more I thought about it the more I changed my mind. I got a lot of great ABB memories, will continue to see GM, TTB, etc. with their ABB tribute songs in sets in the future.
This for me is just a few shades too far away from the pale. To not see and hear Gregg and Butch is something I just can't get past.
Enjoy those who are going. Maybe a stream will suffice.
Thanks,
Mike

Because they can
And, because people pay it.
Concert prices have been insanely scaling up for years. Concerts are still well-attended, though.

And live nation believe they are not high enough. Which of course is nuts. I am going to this one but other than a Mule show here or there I'm done. Even Derek has gotten more than I care to pay. I can afford it if I want but I don't.

And what that article I posted tell you is that now that it is all under one big corporate umbrella it just is like most other things controlled by giant corporations. They have to sell investors on unlimited growth and the revenues have to keep going up.

Yea applenut, you're probably right. But I don't trust that website, company, or availability of tickets to wait...when so many times I've waited and gotten $%#d. I don't live in the area, and am flying up just for this and possibly a business meeting or 2. For $100 more and a random poster and merch thrown in (that I don't have to stand in line for), I'll take it.
Hell in that city I'll just eat 1 less good meal and get the $100 back hah
Sorry man. But told you so.
I don’t blame you, it’s a difficult balancing act but the longer fans continue to overpay for this stuff the longer it will continue.

but the longer fans continue to overpay for this stuff the longer it will continue.
AMEN!!! I have been saying that FOREVER!!! Keep feeding it and it wont stop.
I get it, people want to go to shows , they have their priorities, and maybe have more of an expendable income , and its worth to them whatever they want to pay. I cant tell people what to do with their money, to each their own. But I am not sure a connection is being made when the concert goer is supporting the outlandish ticket prices and keeping brokers, scaplers the secondary market in business. Its a no brainer.
They have these VIP's seats for shows in the HUNDREDS of dollars, that makes a lot of us fans LIP's(less important people)
Unfortunately it probably wont stop....its all about the money...greed.....its never enough. 🙁 🙁
