Why not DVD and streaming??

Posted by: @rickrockerWhy not DVD and streaming??
The reason for making streaming its own option is to test what we've been told by people in the industry, which is "only offer streaming, that's all people want." I think they would be surprised by the survey results so far, and would have expected streaming to be the dominant choice. Based on what we've heard over the years, we felt that our fans like physical media, but still wanted to get your input to make sure our belief was valid.
I'll get right to it...

@steviesea it's been available for months on CD and download via nugs.net, which is maybe why the release wasn't promoted here.
See my reply to wease above ^^^

I really look forward to the release of this show, but would urge who ever releases it, to make it available in both Blue Ray and also DVD format. This way almost everybody will get to share in the great music and memories that it has...

DVD please. My speed is so low that I can't stream. Thank you verizon. I don't own a Blue ray DVD player.

I think both DVD and BlueRay. Thanks for asking...

I voted for BluRay (and even would prefer a 4 k BluRay...). I recently had to buy a new BluRay player and I was able to find an outdated Sony model at a reduced price (went down from 400 € to only around 230 €). Another option would be to have streaming in 4 k with HiRes sound... But I am not a big fan of streaming, it is just not the same as having a physical cd/dvd/br... Also, I am paranoid as regards a situation where the stream might be discontinued, eg. after a few years (the streaming company may be in bankrupcy, a cyber attack might have ocurred, licensing might expire,...).
For BluRay and even for DVD, it should be without region code. When TTB issued their Fox DVD/BR, it was as DVD only in Europe but I had been lucky to get a US bluray (without region code) via a colleague in the US. I hope that the bluray will be offered also in Europe (eg via jpc.de) as I am retired now and I do no longer have regular travels to the US.... I miss my travels to the US - had been able to see i.a. ABB in 2013 in Long Island and TTB in 2016 in Indianapolis - to the regrets of the wife....

Why not include the show in all 3 formats? Thanks for allowing the input!

Voted Blu-ray but really just want the 4k option. I know Nugs offered 3/10 and again over 4th of July weekend but no ability to own to watch besides. I was too busy at MSG on 3/10 to stream 😀

Why not release it in all formats? So people just buy whatever version they want. Surely money is not a constraint!

Not to speak for HTN, but in my experience the more formats, the more cost, and the less each format is consumed. The audio of the show is already available via CD and download, so that makes the video format more of a niche product.
Physical media is going to cost more to produce, and blurays can list for more because of the superior video/audio. Honestly, when do you see dvds other than the $3.99 bin at Walgreens? I understand those who don't care about picture quality and have stuck with their 15 year-old DVD player, but the picture quality of a dvd is barely above a VHS. It's less than half of a standard stream on Youtube. If you want to watch a show, it should look its best, right?
Bundling each is easy for a major studio, but it will increase the cost of the product. You're still producing 2 products and asking people to buy both.
Streaming typically costs less, since there is no production or materials - how much depends on the streaming service, of course. Which streaming service(s) may leave out some consumers. Also, it's not as fun to put on your shelf, and ABB fans are definitely collectors.
Again, as someone who works with video, I am biased about picture quality. And full disclosure, I don't own a bluray, I skipped over that and stream everything.
But thanks again to @rowland for asking We, The Peachle!

BluRay is my first choice so folks can enjoy it with best possible quality on home systems.
Second choice is streaming so folks can view it on mobile devices.
Both would be perfect.
Very grateful you asked!

Some additional news on this project.
A CD is also planned, with a new mix supervised by the band members. This mix will be used on the video format releases too.
Goal is to have this out in the first half of 2021, but that's a goal, not a guarantee as the project is still in the early stages.
Thanks for all the votes and feedback, they are appreciated.
I'll get right to it...

Only way I could listen... 😬

This truly was a magnificent show; one of the best ever. The Garden was electrified. Given that it occurred right before the lockdown, many - I hope most if not all - sure dodged a bullet. Blu-ray all the way.

CD with a blu ray or dvd package.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Most definitely Blu-ray.

Blu-ray would be outstanding...
And I would suggest streaming as well as as option # 2
And I am a big CD guys for the easy mobile for road trips..so would like cds as well..
But I am greedy...I want it all..

I'll always want physical media. So I'm good with either the Bluray or DVD.
Also, I want a legit CD release of this, not the nugs.net burned CD-R version. A legit silver pressed CD with great liner notes.

blu-ray /cd combo

Lot of ABB fans (like other "classic" rock fans) like physical media. CD, LP, DVD, BR, the deluxe treatment.
Would be silly to offer it streaming only. It's not Adriana Grande's latest effort or whatever. I ain't
paying a dime for streaming. BTW, most of those who don't need it in physical form have already
downloaded it for free.

Blu-Ray 5.1 with cd package included would be the perfect set.
on the side I would consider a separate CD set as well as a Limited Lp version.
Thanks again Roland, this is wonderful news. Peace

I voted for streaming, but know some who don't have the bandwidth to do so. Like others I don't own a blu-ray player. DVD wold be nice for those mentioned. It would give a physical item to keep and watch. For just the audio, a cd option would be nice.
Why not ask for pre-orders. Those that want cd/dvd/blu-ray make their choice and pre pay for their item. Just a thought of an added measure for future value, place a mark in the center of the disc that says DVD#xxxxx of #xxxxx along with a photo book from the concert, much like the Filmore East.

Yikes! New blu ray player can be bought for $50 in the U.S.
