Was anyone here at BHLT (Betts, Hall, Leavell, and Trucks Band) shows? What were they like live?

I saw someone on facebook mention this album:

February 1983. Bottom Line NYC.
I walked up and got tickets to the late show.
Everybody waited on line, and when they let us in I went right for a seat at the center table.
About 10 back from the center mike.
Everybody wanted to drink.
Nobody wanted to tip the nice waitress. Except me.
Heineken and shot of tequila.
Show starts and everbody is yelling for the waitress.
Except me.
She keeps bringing me Heinekins and shots of tequila, then takes orders.
I keep tipping her.
I have a shot and lift it just in time to see Dickey looking right at me with a s##$ eating grin.
I toasted.
It never got better than that night.
What a show!

I just got "Live at the Coffee Pot" last week. My new favorite CD!

I saw them at the no-longer-exists Brandywine Club off of Route 202 between Wilmington, Delawhere and West Chester, Pa. A great show filled with ABB tunes, but what made it really special -- it was the first time I saw any of the ABB members in a club setting. We got there early and got a table right in front of the stage, by far the closest I had ever come. It was like they were playing in my living room. Plus, we had a waitress bringing us drinks (albeit expensive ones), which is obviously something that didn't happen at big arena ABB shows. A great, great memory and I'm glad to see some of these live shows making an appearance in the 21st Century.

Yep, I had a chance to see one of the shows. It was expected to be good & was. Lot of talent in that band. Good memories from a time gone by.

I am floored by Your wonderful stories, '78-'82 were my High School years almost all the shows I went to were Heavy Metal bands, missed out on some good music back then......Peace.....joe

P.S. Guess I did see my share of cool shows up close though, Randy Rhoads , UFO, Saxon etc.

But there were some great years of the New Wave of British Metal 1978-1982....before hair metal took over. Sure you saw some tremendous shows. My HS years were 1982-1987 so my first show as in 1983 and I caught some of those same bands but it was on the tail end of that golden period of hard rock.

In just a couple years there was Priest with the run of albums from Hell Bent for Leather to Screamin for Vengeance, Maiden Killers & Number of the Beast, UFO Strangers in the Night, first two Ozzy albums, Sabbath with Never Say Die, Heaven & Hell, and Mob Rules, AC/DC with Highway to Hell & Back in Black, Saxon Denim & Leather, and some good stuff on the first two Def Leppard albums (before they went electronica in the 80s) and then some related stuff from Scorpions, Michael Schenker Group and others
