Playing some Duane today.

47 years gone. Hard to believe. Playing some of his work today a little louder.Thank you Duane.

Listening to 8-17-71 this morning. All those “swipe” slide licks come thru so well.

Got LAFE blasting out.

He was doing Herbie Mann sessions around the time he was in that rehab joint in Buffalo with Berry & Red Dog in Oct 1971
had he lived, I think the band would've gone in that direction -- they'd recovered from endless travel, they were cleaned up & refreshed, & 1972 IMO would've found them going toward more jazz/blues/rock IMPROV -- Jaimoe had started them in this direction, Dickey & Duane were also all over this approach --
for sure they were that already, but the stuff Duane was playing w/Herbie M & some of his side gigs -- it might've found a home in ABB shows -- LOVED it when the boys dipped into the Coltrane & other stuff 2004 Mansfield, & Especially the 2009 love they give Miles' In A Silent Way at the Beacon -- gosh that material would've sounded just as amazing by the original band

I would agree with Stephen's post. Mostly. Not sure that they were cleaned up though. Only saying that from what I have read.
I wonder if the "fusion" thing would have had an affect?
I sure wish we could have found out.
Thankful for what they all made for us to enjoy.
Long live the Allman Brothers Band.

I'll never forget the first time I listened to them (other than hearing Ramblin' Man on the radio & not knowing who they were). I had bought Fillmore East on a whim and went back to my dorm. Was bored so I decided to jump rope for a workout & put my new album on. I'd never heard anything like it. I was actually more curious than "head over heels" with it & wanted to listen to it later that night after class. Put it on after dark with the lights off in my room and lets just say the lights came on.
35 years later & it's still my go to piece of music on special occasions or when I just want to listen to a classic. Loved all the original members but no one ever has approached Duane for me. I'd like a 100 bucks for every time I've listened to IMOER & You Don't Love Me Anymore off the Fillmore album.

I busted out my DA boxset produced by his daughter and gave some discs a few spins. I pulled my copy of Skydog off the shelf too.

I’m hacking along trying to learn Statesboro Blues”.

His solo on Blue Sky on the Stonybrook Achieve release is other worldly.
