Phish and Derek trucks

I have been listening to them on the Sirius Jam station and decided to watch it on youtube. The show I watched was about an hour long and seemed to be all Phish songs as i didn't know any of them. I'm not a Phish fan but OMG, some of the guitar jams were on a whole different level rivaling some of the ABB stuff. If you can check it out, I got goosebumps. Never thought much of Trey but they really seem to have a connection and produced some beautiful music

I assume this is the appearance you're referencingÂ
It's a moral imperative that any Derek fan watch this, in spite of what you may think of Phish 🤣Â
This was a Phish benefit concert for the flood victims in Vermont last summer
The fact that he'd do all Phish tunes and elevate them like this is just masterful
A nominee for GOAT guest appearance EVER

Jaimoe sat in with Derek and Susan at the Hartford gig. Just a few ABB songs but I bet Jaimoe liked being there.Â

Agree that Phish -Derek show was great. Derek and Trey mesh well together. I'm sure everyone knows about Lockin - Trey sitting in for the Layla album and Derek played with TAB - Derek really elevated those tunes (Susan too).
A few years ago Trey played with TTB at Beacon. They did a really good version of Mountain Jam, including the "lullaby" section, which you almost never hear. I don't remember the date. I suspect it was 2018 or 2019.Â

I also saw a video of Derek with Dave Matthews, I think it was "don't go near the water. That was also outstanding as Derek took it to a whole different level with one of the most beautiful solos I have heard. As for the Layla jam, on that I thought Trey was too deferential and Derek just dominated. On the Phish stuff Trey was more assertive and that IMHO made for a better mix.

Completely agree with this. Harder to do the on-stage man crush thing when it's your band, your songs, your crowdÂPosted by: @olddog As for the Layla jam, on that I thought Trey was too deferential and Derek just dominated. 40 years ago when I arrived in Burlington VT,  Phish played every week (night) at a local eatery. Phish has never sounded
this good.Â

Totally miss hearing DT challenged by insane musicians I love TTB but am waiting for them to do something else... Like how about DT Zakir and John McLaughlinÂ

How about Derek & Warren doing a tour with covers they love. With maybe George Porter Jr on bass. Pick your drummer(s)

@mulemewarren Derek is on three or four songs on Warren's new SOLO album plus one song is a tune Gregg Allman started and Warren recently finished. I bought Warren's first solo album and Gov't Mule's first album too so I'm looking forward to this one coming out soon.Â
I like the idea of Derek and Warren doing a tour of their favorite covers but I imagine they wouldn't want all of the set to be covers.Â
Playing THIS just like Dickey and Duane would be fun to hear.Â
I've never heard Derek Trucks get as WILD and as explosive as Duane Allman does in his solo here but I'm sure Derek could if he wanted.Â
