Mr. Wolf is one of the great American musical frontmen. An artist in not just the musical sense, but surely his forte'. He brings a package of sound from multiple genres and for a man who will turn 73 in March his vocals, enthusiasm, and stage presence are stellar. From the blues to soul and rock to country the man deserves his place amongst the American greats, Long may his light shine.

The Midnight Travelers are Tom Arey (D), Marty Ballou (B), Kevin Barry (G), Duke Levine (G), & Tom West (K).

He played 2 nights in honor of the 10 year anniversary of the City Winery in New York which sadly will be hosting its last show in late July due to the block being demolished for a Disney Corporate headquarters building (talk about being Goofy), These pic's and vid's are from the 2nd of the 2 nights. They say it'll be relocated somewhere else in NYC, but will the sweet intimacy be transplanted also? It's such a great venue.

Nice post and I enjoy your videos that you have posted previously. But I am going to differ with you regarding City Winery. Not a fan of the venue. Overpriced, tight sitting, and one of my least favorites in the city. At this point, I will choose to go see an act who performs there elsewhere.

Long time Peter Wolf fan. I'll never forget the first time I saw him. J. Geils Band was opening for Humble Pie in '72 or '73. I knew nothing about them and was more excited to see Stevie Marriott sing his ass off. Whoa! I was blown away by Peter's voice, too, and his energy and enthusiasm on stage dancing around like a rubber doll. They stole the show that night, in my opinion. Glad to hear he's still in the limelight. He's got soul and that's something you can't learn.

Thanks for posting.

I have the 15th Anniversary Poster from the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ. It was from a Kinks show in March '87. It listed every band and the openers from December 16th '71 to January '87. It has the first show being Humble Pie opened by J. Geils. The show you're referring to was probably from '72. Must've been great, early Geils was a blues band.

It lists the Allman Brothers Band fisrt playing there on July 14th 1972 opened by Tin Alice. They were there often. On the Brothers Of The Road DVD Dickey said we were like family. Marshall Tucker Band's DVD/CD release Carolina Dreams was recorded there in '77. I adore both John Scher and Bill Graham for capturing so many of the shows from the Capitol Theatre and Winterland Ballroom. Classic captures,

Peter Wolf is indeed a great front man. I like their older stuff better than the radio hits from the early 80s. Centerfold, Freeze Frame, Love Stinks, etc.

Sad about Jay Geils passing a couple year ago. I finally got to see The J Geils band a handful of years ago outside of Detroit. I think they considered Detroit their second home. About 25 years ago I saw Magic Dick on a B.B. King Blues Festival.

Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

I can't even listen to those tunes but put Full House on the stereo, that's what J. Geils Band means to me.
