Interesting how Mike Mattison (a Harvard grad and English major) inspired the entire band to read the lengthy Layla poem, which of course inspired Eric Clapton as well.

Yes the Layla poem. I don't know much about the poem actually. It was interesting to learn more about it. 

To Eric Clapton, Layla was a cover name for Pattie Boyd who was with George Harrison I think as Elizabeth Reed was cover for Boz Scaggs' girlfriend Carmilla. 

When I was young and snuck around like that, I used the name Slick Corrigan.
