Seems the GOP of the Reagan years thru has imploded. They're running away, getting fired, or changing teams.

The one thing DT has done - and I have nothing but contempt for the man - is FORCE VOTERS to choose the kind of government we want.

Maybe only madmen will run. 24/7 media coverage & scrutiny into ancient history makes it difficult for a reasoned open-minded person to run. DT didn't cause that, either. He fed it, but he didn't cause it.

It takes guts to run in this media climate, but I want my representatives to have guts.

Paul Ryan goose is cooked after passing the. Schummer omnibus spending travesty. How this guy can show his face around after ringing alarm bells about social security going bust and needing reform then allowing this budget to pass is incomprehensible.

I like Paul Ryan, he is an honest to goodness God fearing American patriot. He said that he is 48 and wants to be there for his kids growing up. Washington takes 6 days of his life each week. That is a big sacrifice. He will do other things, and the US is better for his leadership, under which, one of his passions, tax reform was actually passed. He gave his time, his talents and made America a little better for it. What more can you ask of an elected representative?

My point is that Republicans are disappearing - all kinds of them - and leaving vacancies. Voters have the opportunity to choose fresh representatives, but the intense scrutiny from the media (bloggers to legit outlets) over the tiniest thing no matter how long ago makes it hard for anyone who isn't a fanatic to run. I hope there WILL be some good candidates who are willing to put up with media nonsense for the good of government.

Seems to me that this thread needs to be moved to the Whipping Post. Probably should have been posted there in the first place.

He's a worthless P.O.S. Good Riddance.

X2.

Paul Ryan has no spine. He was more interested in abolishing Obamacare and lowering taxes for the richest Americans than he was in standing up to the unethical POTUS.

What more can we ask of a high level politician?

To be honest and truly God-fearing, and an American patriot. To speak the truth, instead of saying he wants to spend more time with his family. To not have supported legislation that will balloon the deficit, one of his passions

In light of all the things that have come up and been disclosed since before the 2016 election, I think it would be good to have a code of conduct passed in Congress for ALL Congressional members, present and future. They agree to adhere to it, or they resign or get fired if found out. Make them agree to it during the vetting process as part of their employment.
