Oteil Burbridge Says An Allman Brothers Reunion May Happen Next Year

C'mon now, somebody say something.

Two years. The nostalgia factor should be kicking in by now. 😉

Derek said no way no how 😛

I hope they play the Beacon in March 2017 with Gregg, Jaimo, Butch, Otiel, Marc, Warren and Dickey or Jackie P, that's a reunion to me. That's assuming Derek won't be there, he'd make a great guest

How much will we all be willing to pay for tickets 😛 if and when it happens.200 250?i'd say that would be about right for the Beacon for the cheapest seat.

I think DT has made it more than clear that the ABB are in his rear view mirror.......

"It needed to end when it did. It wasn’t feeling good anymore by that point. At least not to me anyway."
What's changed that's going to make it any better?
Same old songs, guys who are three years older...
I'm surprised anyone has any appetite for it.

I'm with Derek.....no way no how.....

Not a Beacon person here, but I feel if they did a run there, the tickets would sell rapidly.
I personally don't have a desire for this reunion, but I think we are fooling ourselves if we said there is no market for this.
Knowing the history though, what is the over/under on how long this type of talk goes on? 3, 4, 5 more years ?

Hahaha!!
I love em, I do, but these guys couldn't even get their sh*t straight enough to play shows together BEFORE they broke up! What makes anyone think they can put something together 3-4 years later? Bwahaha!!

It's weird to speculate about people you don't know personally - but I wonder about the Derek and Oteil relationship. Oteil in the interview states they don't keep in touch, they haven't played together since the ABB ended, and Oteil's exit from the TTB always struck me as odd.

I wouldn't read too much into it. These guys all have busy schedules and different priorities and a lot of people & musicians running in and out of their lives. There are a lot of people that I worked with just a few years ago who I like to see buy haven't had a moment to talk to recently.
I would probably try to get tickets to another Allman Brothers show, but I'm enjoying everyone's focus on their solo projects right now. I find that much more interesting, even their fresh spins on ABB tunes. I live in NYC, so they all stroll through pretty regularly (I'm spoiled). Butch will be here in next month, Gregg just had a surprise sit-in at Scott Sharrard's gig last week (which I missed!) and will have Laid Back Fest here soon, TTB was at the Apollo earlier and will be back at the Beacon soon, Jaimoe and Junior Mack are always around. If it happens, cool, if not, there's more ABB-related music out there right now than there was the last few years the ABB was touring.

Cool shirt Butch !

"We obviously needed a break from each other."
This from a band that was down to the Beacon and two festivals a year...:P

a promoter will step up and guarantee an amount for a summer run. the promoter will take the risk on appetite.
the beacon - i'm pretty sure that the Allmans take the risk here by booking the venue. this will sell out without a thought.
if jack pearson was involved, i would go.
if gregg stays healthy and wants to do it, it will happen. everything else would fall into place. derek is out. warren is probably out too. so we need to start speculating who else would be on vocals.

If Jack Pearson is in I would consider going to the Beacon, but without Warren and Derek there are some large holes to fill including vocals

No spot taken.

In consideration of the fact that the last show was as excellent as it was and considering the band never played on 10-29, for obvious reasons, I will be disappointed if they go for the money, they hit the note. Warren and Derek both wanted out in order to pursue their own projects full time. Music is one of the opportunities in life to reach inside of yourself and get out what is going on in your heart and soul. Please let it rest in peace and love.

Has anyone seen that Lincoln commercial, Midnight Rider being played by an orchestra. It is short enough for a surprise, and good enough for a tease that makes you want more. It seems Gregg's been thinking about new things for them old songs, he may very well be gettin' ready.
As to Derek, no Derek does not want to come back. He likes what he is doing with Susan and THEIR own band. When he joined ABB he was a greenhorn, he grew up, came of age and like any little bird, he had to leave the nest and go make his own home. That is what he did. Derek's not coming back does not put the kabosh on the band getting back together in another form with some new players.
As to Dickey, him and Gregg will not remain estranged forever, they are kindred spirits. Is there stuff the entire band has to agree on? Yeah. Does a certain member have to have better behavior, well it would seem so by all accounts. Everybody knows they could not get back together and have it be the way it was. Nobody was happy then, can they be happy with some tweeking? I said tweeking, not twerking! and I think they could be. Just requires mutual respect and joint decision making.

I think you mean Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, who toured with TTB last summer on the Wheels of Soul tour. Here is a longer version (albeit, still too short).

...and face-to-face discussions not had in years, rehearsals where the toll of age will reveal itself, discussion of setlists, all the business considerations, and the giant grain of salt that all fans would be well to take as it might end up as being a situation where you would rather remember what they once were...

"Gregg [Allman] texted all of us right before the last Wanee about trying to put something together next year but I haven’t heard anything since then. I told him that I was down for it. I guess enough time has passed for him."
So Gregg was the mastermind behind Oteil's statement! What else was in the text?
Right after I release my new CD All Compositions by Gregg Allman.
I'd love for Dickey Betts to be part of this.
You know you were the first to announce you were leaving the ABB and when I went public with that, you decided to stay.
I'm sorry that text was auto-penned by someone else.
This time I am really in love. We'll be married soon.
If Warren is not on board with a reunion, I can ask Cher to share the vocals. We have always been on good terms.

Never underestimate the power of the Almighty Dollar. This site is blue but the color at issue is green. A couple of reunion shows at the Beacon would be a nice buck for short work. Especially for those who aren't doing much to replace the lost income.
I hope it happens. It would be a helluva lotta fun to get it going again for a few nights in the city.

They left it on a perfect note w/those mind bending shows late Oct. at the Beacon -- leave it right there I say -- March 23 1969-Oct. 28 2014
Only the well to do w the Deep pockets & social agenda would shell out to see the boys, whomever they might be, once again run thru OWO & Statesboro, MRider & Melissa -- older fans probly wouldn't pay much attention to a reunion IMO -- I love the ABB

Well said, Stephen. My own thoughts: Let it Be. Please.

There is no point to a 'reunion' except $$$$.
I think they have passed their pull date.

They played on 10/29 many times post 1971.

Bring jack p and the keyboard player from GAF in the mix, that guy is awesome! ... There would have to be some new original music
though...

If that is a prerequisite then it likely would never happen.
