As Dickey got older he seemed to back off of those cool pull offs he did when younger. Here Dickey does several very cool variations of his pull offs.

Must Have Done Somebody Wrong 1973

Gregg plays that all metal guitar he had back then. Can't think of what it was. Headstock looks like it could be a Dean but it was another make.

Thank you 50 split. I saw Gregg play it at a couple of shows in 1973 and when Gregg would move a certain way the spotlight would bounce off the silver metal body and hurt your eyes.

The rest of the years the ABB had just one lead player ( Dickey), Gregg played a Strat and occasionally a Les Paul and usually just on Wasted Words and Must Have Done Somebody Wrong.

I cant seem to find it on youtube now, but there was a great video from the 90's of the ABB doing Statesboro with Dickey on Slide & Warren playing standard... Dickey was using a sunburst PRS & was tearing it up!

I've seen that redhouse1969. I think it is on a complete show at the Beacon in 1997 when Warren and Allen decided to quit after the Beacon run. There are a couple of those shows on YouTube.

Dickey began playing his old 1956 Stratocaster I think he picked up used of course some years earlier to use some in the studio on rhythm guitar. I remember Dickey saying back in the 1970's that a Stratocaster is a hell of a rhythm guitar. Guess Clapton would agree but for lead too:) Anyway on those last Beacon shows with Warren and Allen, Dickey has his Stratocaster for lead guitar but when he played slide on Statesboro Blues, he strapped on his PRS Macarty. It has hotter pickups I suppose. Actually I remember smiling and being surprised when I saw that because Dickey began using the PRS in 1994 but by midsummer of 1995, he was on a Gibson ES-335. It was good to see the PRS one more time. Warren had a couple of PRS guitars in his early days of the ABB.

Duane Betts has Dickey's old 56 Strat now and the ES-335 dot neck. He uses both on a couple of songs in Allman Betts Band. Early this year they were in my area and man when you see the 1956 Fender Strat hard tail up close, it has some bad road wear on the upper body and the neck. From 1956 to whenever Dickey bought that old Strat, someone played the finish off it in several places.
