New Neil Young Album -Peace Trail

Neil Young has a new album on the way. On December 2, the ever-prolific rocker will release Peace Trail, the 38th solo record of his career and second of 2016.
According to a press release, the lyrical themes of Peace Trail continue the global issues Young has been singing about on his two most recent efforts, Earth and The Monsanto Years. “Each song is rich with Young’s typically inviting lyrical expression of his inimitable impassioned and heartfelt life-long humanitarian concerns which remain as topical and timely as ever,” the press release reads.
One of its tracks, “Indian Givers,” was released last month. It deals with the controversy surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline, with Young siding with the members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe against the construction of an oil pipeline near their reservation.
It’s mostly acoustic, with Young bringing in session legend Jim Keltner on drums and Paul Bushnell on bass. Young, Bushnell and Micah Nelson contribute background vocals on “My New Robot” and Joe Yanke played electric harp and pump organ. The record was recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-la Studios, and was produced by Young and John Hanlon, who also mixed it.
Peace Trail will initially be available on CD, cassette and Young’s PONOMusic digital format, with a vinyl release coming in January. Pre-ordering it on his website will result in an instant download of the title track.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Everything Neil does is awesome. Doesn't matter what direction he takes things.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

These days, most artists are taking like 4-5 years in between album releases. Two from Neil in the same year... that's phenomenal!!

One of many things I like about Neil is he still flies his Hippie Flag. And proudly. Hippie has become a term of almost mockery now, Neil gets what it meant then, still means something to him now, and more important is has kept the spirit alive.
Saw Neil recently. He was probably better than in 72 and that was effin great too. He left draw dropped, shell shocked attendees walking out mumbling accolades....

judging by your comment you stopped listening to neil young around 1995

Nothing could be further than your comment. Do you really think he hasn't been good in over 20 years? Opinions are subjective but wow.

Neil can be one of my all-time favorite artists. I could put on 3 hours of his music that is as good as these ears could ever want. If I could choose a 2.5 hour concert setlist by any artist, Neil would be a finalist for me and yes it would include stuff from the last 20 years.
That said, he also has plenty of music and tours I don't have interest in seeing. I never blindly buy tickets or albums without reviews or getting a preview. I'll be interested in hearing what this one is all about.

neil is part of the holy trinity in my book. Neil, Dylan & Van Morrison. If Neil is selling it....I'm buying. Saw him this past Summer with Promise of the real and he is rocking harder in his seventies than anybody has any business doing at that age. Simply a wonderfully talented genius...nothing less

ok. i looked. i own 5 albums he has released since 1996. he has 15 or 16 albums though in that timeframe. that means he has 10 or 11 albums that i didn't like. sounds like a really bad equation of good to bad

And that is your opinion which is fine. How did you choose the five to buy? Did you hear the other 10 or 11? Some of that time frame kind of predated downloads and all of what can be done now.
I will grant you that he can be eclectic. For example, I went to one of the Greendale shows at Radio City in NYC. And I did indeed find the "show" part of it weird but the second half was all him and Crazy Horse. Well worth my $$$.
I do know some people that don't like him because of his voice. I get that. I used to feel the same way about Dylan. Took me a while but I like him.
I just think to say he hasn't done anything good in 20 years is really stepping out there.

The guy's my all time #1, but even I had to fold it up after 2009 or so...I think the last thing I bought was 2007's Chrome Dreams II, which I thought was decent. I started feeling disillusioned starting with 2003's Greendale, which I thought had a great sound, yet the songs weren't there. And then most everything after that just didn't do it for me.
(I think the loss of producer David Briggs in 1995 is curiously related to this whole thing).
Just my opinion...

thank you. someone else being realistic. i purchased everything he released until 2010 and have traded everything released after 1996 away except for 5 albums. heard the last few releases from friends and didn't like them. i do own psycedelic pill though
