You just played Atlanta last night. How is everybody sounding?

Everyone is doing great and getting along great and we’ve had some exciting stuff happen on this particular run because Don Was attended our rehearsals and we worked up a bunch of new songs and we’re ready to go in the studio pretty much. So in March, we’re booked to go in Fame Studio at Muscle Shoals, the original Muscle Shoals recording studio, with Don Was producing and we’re going to make a new record.

Since it is Scott Sharrard saying that it is happening and not Gregg, then I am more likely to believe it.

Fame Studio at Muscle Shoals sounds very promising too. Hopefully some soul tunes on that alleged new album. Also nice to see they opted for another producer. I initially liked the rootsy sound of T Bone Burnett's production yet i think all his projects start to sound to much a kin. The sound i think fits Gregg the best is the sound of the original mix version of Searching For Simplicity (dubbed The Ducktape Mixes). The final mixes made in LA sucked compared to those mixes made at the Ducktape Studios in Decatur. I like them to sound powerful yet rootsy and not so glossy over-produced like most of Gregg's studio releases. And although i think Scott Sharrard is doing one hell of a job in Gregg's band i hope they will also invite Jack Pearson.

At least this time (if it actually happens) it looks like Gregg will be doing it with his own band and not the producers band. Nothing wrong with T-Bone's band, but it's kind of a slap in the face if your band is actually capable of doing the job themselves.

If Gregg were to work with an outside band, I'd love to see what he could do with the Dap Kings backing him.

Good post.

Both ideas are winners.

At least it sounds like there is going to be at least 2 new original songs, so that is good.
