Thanks for the heads up!
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

New album featuring a drummer that passed away 6 years ago? Was a work in progress I guess.

I have both of The Rossington Collins Band albums (I think there were only two). They are really bad. I mean BAD.

my guess is most of the music was recorded 6 years ago and over the last few years vocals and guests were recorded

hmmmm, most skynyrd fans think the first album is great and the 2nd is pretty good

I'd have to disagree Lee. (Ain't that a song lyric?) I'd love to have a copy of both. I do remember there were two great songs. - The Colllins hit "Don't Misunderstand Me" and the Barry Harwood gem "Free Today." I'm on a cell phone and can't post a link to "Free Today" but it is a great tune IMO. Worth checking out if you've never heard it.

I love Skynyrd but those two were clunkers to me. I also have a Steve Gaines album that I think is worse.
Music is subjective!

I have always and still do, reallly like the first Rossington Collins Band Album - Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere. I like every song and suggest folks give it another shot. I will certainly check out the newly released tunes so thanks for the heads up!

I think the sound and playing on the two RCB albums is very good....a continuation of the sound from Street Survivors in a lot of ways. The songwriting just wasn't nearly the same and of course RVZ's voice was missing.
There are a few exceptions, with the biggest being Don't Misunderstand Me which is a classic and would have fit in well right in the middle of Street Survivors:

Well the 1st Rossington Collins album was very good. Allen was a complete mess by the 2nd one and barely participated and I always have said that album is almost haunted and way below the quality of the first one. While of course everything is just opinion I do wonder if Lee is actually thinking of the Rossington Band albums? Because those were objectively just plainly not very good.

Or the Allen Collins Band record possibly? Even with Woody that one was pretty bad.

Yeah the Collins record was not great. But no Woody, He did play with Arti later of course but Leon was the bassist in the Allen Collins Band.

I don't know, I liked the ACB album. Sounded more like Skynyrd than the RCB. As far as I've ever been able to find there's only one lousy sounding show that circulates.

Yes, from what I understand the Allen Collins Band played the lone star cafe (downtown) NYC early and late show and that was it. Is this the show you talking about?
Also, A.P.B. the first Artimus Pyle band LP that came out the same year on MCA records was interesting.

I'm trying hard to recollect a new release that I was more disinterested in than this, but it's hard for me to find one. Adele, maybe?

Gary can't win. If he records and plays as LS than people are upset. If he goes solo, people are upset. 😉
As I age and the music collection grows, I never listen to any of those after LS releases. Too much music out there to listen to mediocre versions of LS. Might as well just put on the real thing.
Every singer working with them after Ronnie died was doomed before they ever sang a note. If I had to choose one than it would be Johnny as funny as that seems. I have always viewed the new LS as a separate act from the original. They get bashed of course but I will take them over the RCB, ACB, Artimus or GRB.
I like Steve Gaines solo stuff and love how many of those songs on Street Survivor existed before he was in LS. Shows his influence was instant when joining. I think he is one of thee best examples of us being robbed so much music that would have come. Amazing player and could write and sing. Sadly we got so little.

Yup that's the one. I have it on my old list, close to unlistenable.
The RCB albums came out when I was in high school. I was a huge Skynyrd fan at the time, any new music was a good thing. Saw them live once. Stood in line for hours at a Sears ticket-tron(?) another time. Remember those days? The show was canceled.
Anyway the band had imploded. The Rossington/Krantz hookup & the death of Allen's wife made it impossible to carry on.

i think of the newer LS at a different thing too. at first weren't they billed as LS '91 on stuff?

The reunion tour, '87 was nirvana for me. Saw multiple shows.
I lost interest as the original members passed...

I lost interest as the original members passed...
X2...But having seen the boys in twice in 75 & 76...I rushed to Tower to buy the first Rossington - Collins Record. Like the majority opinion here I was underwhelmed; saw them at the Santa Monica civic and enjoyed the show...
Then gave "Skynyrd" another shot in 1991 in San Diego @ The Starlite Bowl, I remember that show because Ed King was there....and immediately saw through JVZ.......Haven't given them a thought since.

The last time I saw Skynyrd we walked out during Freebird to beat the traffic.
Medlocke does his best to imitate Collins but it was just boring. Short show full of medleys.
I suppose I'd consider going again if they allowed Artimus Pyle & Ed King back in the band. Not likely to happen. I think Ed is retired? Health issues?

Hitler Responds to bands touring after the original members are mostly gone:
Rated R.

Another "grey market" release of a radio show that might be interesting:
I haven't bought it yet. It's on my wishlist but that list is getting longer and longer everyday 😛 .

I think that might be a KBFH show, Nashville. Possibly their 1st show. I remember taping it.
Could be new years eve. That was also broadcast. Memory hazy but I think that was Atlanta.

In Atlanta, Rossington Collins Band forming, releasing an album and playing Atlanta was bigger news than the ABB's reunion the year before. It was a big deal on 96Rock and I even remember the 11pm Channel 11 evening news covering their concert at the Omni briefly with a reporter there.

How could you not like Dale Krantz singing One Good Man, that was a killer song and she did an incredible job on that, the rest of the album was very good also.

Thanks for the correction tbomike on Woody. I forgot. I still have that record on vinyl. That Hitler thingy is funny as sh*t. And no Gary can't win with some people. I've got the DVD where the current Skynyrd does the first two albums. It's great. Gary's playing is strong as ever. He leaves no doubt that he is still a bad *ss on six strings. He did the same the last time I saw Skynyrd live as well. I'm interested in hearing this new record. The Richie Heyward part is a little confusing, but I always thought he was a great drummer.
