Good read. Its the companion piece to the Warren interview already posted here.
These were used for David Fricke's article in Rolling Stone here.

thanks
"Between me and Warren, we would have crushed an Allman Brothers record.

Thanks much for links.
I think he's saying he appreciates being well compensated but not sure if I'm right. Would be great to think the non-partners felt they were treated well.
What did you take away from your Allman Brothers experience that has influenced the way you and Susan run your band now?
There were some things the Allmans did conceptually that were forward-thinking and high concept. Any of the music the band performed live — it was communal. It wasn't like because this guy's been here longer, he gets a different share. Those things, without a doubt, they did not have to do. It was very much in the spirit of the way the music was made.

When I read the article, albeit quickly, I interpreted Derek to be talking about solo or feature playing spots, not money, when he used the term "share"..........sort of like 'share of the spotlight'.........food for thought.

I agree with tumbleweed, I don't think he was talking about money sharing there.

The Derek & Warren interviews make me sad again that the final version of the ABB didn't record a second studio album. What a lost opportunity.

Pretty sure he means creatively, that there were no egos, tenure was irrelevant. He says as much about TTB - they toured with an 11-piece band because they wanted to, not because it was an economic boon.

I still say that this line-up of the ABB could assemble a great and valuable live album by compiling the new originals like "Spots of Time" and "Bag End" plus covers like "Blind Willie McTell" and any markedly different versions of older ABB songs. Put it together without a concern about including obvious hits; make it its own document that this was the new direction that this line-up was capable of serving up. Make it a single CD if that is what makes for a lack of redundancy. No "Statesboro" required.
