So I was down at the local brick and mortar yesterday to pick up a combo CD/DVD which I ordered, Royal Southern Brotherhood's "Songs From The Road" (Live In Germany). Haven't spun it yet, but I'll review it after I have...........expectations are high after seeing them last year.

But I digress. Here is a copy and paste of my record store experience...........sometimes it's worth it to just go into a store and I really love doing it because I didn't even know these new Beatles releases existed:

While at the store, I noticed a rack full of brand new Beatles releases. You remember when they remastered all the Beatles' stuff five years back? What it appears they have done now is they've gotten into the American releases too, stuff which has NEVER before been released on CD. There was Something New, which was the first vinyl I ever bought when I was nine years old. I have virtually (but not exactly) the same songs on the original European CD versions. But then I saw something I've wanted for many, many years, but it's never been available until now: Hey Jude. I'm sure all would remember that record: The latter era, long-haired Beatles (including a full-bearded Lennon) are standing in front of an ornate wooden doorway with statues on either side of them. This record is a collection of singles that weren't released anywhere else, and it ROCKS!!!! In fact, it may be my very favorite Beatles record. Sometimes we forget that at heart, The Beatles were a very hot rock 'n' roll band that started out playing for 10 hours a day in a club in Hamburg.

Not only that, you get Lennon crying his eyes out on the most bluesy thing the Beatles EVER did: Don't Let Me Down. I played it yesterday and have it on right now.........the sound is RIGHTEOUS!! Hey Jude sounds like a prayer compared to how hard this record rocks. Here's a track listing.

HEY JUDE

1. Can't Buy Me Love
2. I Should Have Known Better
3. Paperback Writer
4. Rain
5. Lady Madonna
6. Revolution
7. Hey Jude
8. Old Brown Shoe
9. Don't Let Me Down
10. Ballad of John and Yoko

I'm a Beatles snob I guess. 😛
I only recognize the British releases.. the albums ( and mixes) the way the band intended Cool

I do love the "butcher cover" on Y&T though
