New Allman Betts Band Video

Did Duane and Johnny not get the memo about using their electric instruments? That part was strange.
Otherwise, very cool of them to even attempt to do this in these times. To a very cool song, too.

Very nice. This is the next big thing in the ABB history. And how could it miss for people who want some version of the Allman Brothers. You have an Allman, a Betts and an Oakley.

Sorry I thought this was just something recycled from a Nashville
bar band. Better than many but nothing that other people aren't
already doing better.

Eh, yeah, not super impressed. It's a cool project, glad fans are enjoying seeing these guys play together, but this song is pretty generic. Dig the electric keys, but then they get buried under Devon's voice (which I've never really enjoyed). My favorite part of Allman Betts Band is Johnny Stachela's guitar playing.

Next big thing? Please. I like them but am always amused when folks act like these are teenage kids about to break out rather than 40 somethings finally making even a little headway because they decided to use their names to cash in a little. Which I have absolutely no problem with but the next big thing is kind of laughable.

Thank you.
Duane is always sounding better. Would I rush out to buy this? Probably not.

Thanks for posting. I think it's an excellent song, they all sound really good and I'm looking forward to seeing them once the concert quarantine ends. (Hopefully soon!)

No I don't mean Allman Betts Band will be as big as The Allman Brothers or Doobie Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd. They are the next big thing for people who want to see a band a little heavy on Allman Brothers Band music. They do a surprisingly good job on songs such as Statesboro Blues, Blue Sky, Jessica and Dimples.
Devon looks like Duane (looks more like his uncle than dad) and Duane looks like Dickey and Berry looks like Berry. Johnny is a very good slide player.
No problem if they never make big money. Devon got all 43 of Gregg's guitars and equipment and about 4 million of Gregg's 15 million. Duane Betts lives in a luxury condo in expensive Malibu, California. Has 3 of Dickey's best electric guitars with him on tour. He and his new bride take regular little vacations to Europe, Bali, Jamaica, Bahamas etc. Flies too. In short he lives like his father is a multimillionaire who is taking care of his son out of love. And indeed his father is a multimillionaire who resides in a beautiful mansion in a gated community next to the water with a boat and boat dock, swimming pool, a private island out on the other side.

Johnny is a fine and tasty player.

Thanks for sharing. Good stuff!!
Nice guitar work from Johnny and Duane.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Thanks for sharing.
Sounds good, but I'm not a fan of Devons voice.
Dug the Duane and Johnny guitar work.

I recognize I'm an old man at 70. The video is of band members playing acoustic guitars. The sound is electric guitars. Duane and Johnny have a good groove. Devon not so much. I'm sorry, but I want realism in my music. This video is nothing but fake. I don't think I'm asking much, just be real and not represent something that is not an accurate portrayal of the music. I think the band is missing the mark with this kind of marketing.

My response would be to maybe lighten up a bit. Awesome to get this made at all during the COVID-19 environment we are currently in. Yeah I noticed electric guitars in the sound and not the video. Didn't bother me enough to draw any attention to it. I thought the song could have been 5:00 long rather than 6:40 but a very good tune nonetheless. These guys are carrying on the best they can under current circumstances. Hope they fulfill the "postponed" Bay area date, March 14th, that I still have a ticket for. The venue, Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, has not responded to my two emails. My guess is that my $42 has already been spent on rent, utilities, etc.

I am still trying to come to grips that Duane had actually started to turn the volume up on his guitar and now he sings? Good for trying but hope not a regular thing. I was surprised to hear Devon's voice questioned and not Duane's. lol
I would agree that this isn't the greatest tune and comes across bar band a bit. But bar bands are ok - I play in a couple. lol
I will be honest and I wondered if we were coming to the end and when I checked it was only halfway done.
I have tried to support them and the concept. Devon has jumped around far too much in his career.

I don't get the negativity towards these guys. These are fine musicians playin' good music on a decent level. Their debut album is a strong piece of work both in songwriting and performing.Better than 90% of the stuff you get to hear these days. Bar band? C'mon, if there is a family band that sounds like a bar band, it's the Mule with all those shitty covers and recycled hard rock licks ...

Yeah I hear ya Werner. Govt Mule likely will never be a top draw band like Lynyrd Skynyrd or Fleetwood Mac or even Little Feat. They've been at for 26 years and never became a big headliner like Eric Clapton. Mule has never had a platinum album and just one to go gold last I read.
Maybe Warren and Matt should join Allman Betts Band, give them a big boost and when this virus is over maybe they could do an album that is as big as Brothers and Sisters and become as big as The Allman Brothers Band was in 1973 and 1974 selling out coliseums all over the country.
Put out a single similar to Ramblin'Man called " Lord I rode my Mule all the way to the gravy train."

Hey - everyone has different tastes. I have heard hundreds of acts similar to or better than Allman Betts - I have never seen a bar band close to Govt Mule. But whatever floats your boat.
Mule has done just fine. Loyal following and still playing to theaters/Aud which is why they are not a "bar band".
I support Allman Betts but that doesn't translate to blind faith and proclaiming every note they play as Godly. Tune didn't do it for me - it did for you. All good.
RSB has been my fav Devon group so far.

Regular vacations to Europe, Bali. They went to Europe and Bali for their honeymoon. His Mom has been a successful Executive Assistant to Cher from way back even before Duane was born. So yes his parents have wealth. His wife comes from a successful family as well. If these families wanted to give their kids a magnificently romantic honeymoon in Paris, Spain, Bali. That's nice.
Dickey earned his wealth over the course of many years and had his share of heartbreak and financial struggles. He paid his dues on the road. Kudos to him that he came out all right.
Devon didn't get a silver spoon growing up. His Mom left the craziness of the ABB days and raised him in normal environment. He wanted to meet his Father and she told him that Gregg was a good man and someday he would meet him. She loved Gregg but could not take the fast lane lifestyle and sheltered him from that, so when he met his Father he wasn't going to get lost in the trappings of alcohol etc.
I think it's nice Devon and Duane are carrying on the legacy of the music. I do not think they are trying to make money off their last names. I think they are proud of where they came from and it is a way of paying homage to their Fathers and ABB.

Hi-- I like the way you phrased this in that you support them but it doesn't translate to blind faith. My opinion is no better than yours, and I will say that I really like what these guys are doing. I think they are greater than the sum of their parts, which is usually what leads to a good tight band. They seem to have a halo or expectation around them and they are channeling it in a very positive and constructive way. I don't doubt that there are bands that may sound or play better, but these guys cover a lot of bases that most bands don't. They have the groundwork of the ABB but they also have the scrutiny of their fans. I mean they are Oakley, Betts and Allman.....so they will be scrutinized more than most other bands. That has it's own strange pressure. I haven't seen them in person yet but for the folks i have spoken to who have, they all say these guys do smoke! good times for all of us
