NBA SUSPENDS SEASON

STARTING TOMORROW...PRETTY SURREAL

Yeah that is pretty huge. That is a harbinger.

Hawks made a big comeback but lost last night in overtime. Had we won we would have 6th best odds in the lottery. With the loss we are either 3rd or 4th. Good game to lose.

And now MLB, NCAA basketball tourneys, NHL. All kinds of school things...

The Sebring 12 hours has been rescheduled for November, that's a bummer.

Except Plane flights. Smaller "Venue" and the bigger likelihood of the contagion being spread..
Wow

And now MLB, NCAA basketball tourneys, NHL. All kinds of school things...
In some cases, school itself. Lots of talk about "distance learning" - classes on-line, etc. I just hope that each student has a computer and internet available.
Lot's of complaints and comments about how drastic the situation has become (or seems to have become). Now, suppose we just took a super cool and casual attitude towards this. Suppose we just go on with our lives - then this thing turns into the modern version of the plague and we lose 20% of our population. Can you imagine the screamin' and hollerin' over why we failed to take it seriously. Folks would line up to sue our government for not taking better care of us.
I have no idea how "real" this is, but as they say - "an ounce of prevention ..."

Better safe than sorry, if you're elderly you are probably appreciating these measures more. I think a lot of this goes to perception - SBSW or the NBA doesn't want to make headlines for being a petri dish that leads to someone's grandma dying. As a Bucks fan, I'm bummed, but there are more important things out there and hopefully in the long run it allows everyone to get back to business sooner.

So far, the biggest pill for me to swallow (covid 19 relief pun!) is that at 63, I am apparently an old person.

Depends how you read them. Yes there are a few here complaining or floating pointless and unhelfpful conspiracy stuff. My comments and most others are simply flat statements of what is occurring, maybe adding that it is a bummer missing a show or losing a job. Hearing reports from folks I trust on here has helped me gage the situation, accept and take it seriously.
COVID -19 is for sure in my town. Keeping my kid out of school starting today until things improve.
A lot of schools here in the Indy area are shut down for about 3-4 wks. 2 of those weeks are part of the spring break.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I know, right?
67 here, that young at heart stuff isn’t really working!

Nothing I'm losing sleep over. NBA hasn't been fun since Show Time.

I have to admit, this hurts. I'm SUCH a basketball junkie............although I'm usually too tired to catch an entire game, I catch at least a snippet of an NBA game nearly every night when I get home from work.

This hurts
Im a a big bassketball fan (yes Knicks fan) and this is the only sports I watch on tv

You sure didn't see the Warriors much from 2014-2019 did you?

Yeah not being able to watch overpaid primadonnas is really the end of the world, right?

Not the end of the world but something a few of us really enjoy.
Why the need to piss on our parade with all the negativity?

I am relating my experience,
If you see my opinion as negative. Perhaps you are missing on your own parade?
They pay teachers peanuts, but pay millions of dollars to people to chase a ball around.

Yep adore hoops, esp when at its best during a good matchup - GSW right there w/Jordan’s Bulls, Magic’s Lakers, Celtics teams b4 then w/Cowens, Don Chaney Don Nelson Paul Silas Charlie Scott, coach Tom Heinsohn, & the late greats John Havlicek & JoJo White
LeBron & LA, and Giannis & Bucks were playing at/near that level this year (also LA’s 1971-72 team that won 33 straight & had 69 overall wins)
but it would’ve made a fantastic final (hoping to be wrong of course:o ) & have to believe porkchopbob is super bummed
LBJ imho is GOAT
Why can’t they gradually begin to resume the sports schedules over the next few weeks - there’s been no targeted return date set altho I guess “30 days minimum” was mentioned for hoops
People who work at the buildings, concessions, nearby bars....all shit out of luck - the economic toll of coronavirus is already a catastrophic calamity
epidemic no, pandemic no, it’s a full-blown panic now - part natural/part manmade - started by coronavirus & fueled/compounded by overreaction - heck even Wanee has been called off
Am not a boorish blowhard, just this thing kicking our butts like it is
Good morning

nonsensical jibberish.

True-I guess you don’t see any sports, movies, music concerts(was Gregg Allman overpaid?-he and many musicians earn more than teachers)

Stephen: Good points. Right before the season was suspended Lakers were starting to look really scary, as if they could demolish anything in their path. Roughed up the Bucks on a Friday night then ripped the Clippers on Sunday, two of the best teams in the league. A healthy LeBron James and Anthony Davis duo is something that I don't think any team can deal with right now. Definitely one of the best forward tandems in history, up there with Bird and McHale. (Remember that Javale McGee and Dwight Howard are the Lakers' centers). And the way they are working it together and staying out of each other's way.........it's poetry in motion............
Oh and by the way GOTDRUMZ: I'm not worried how much $$$ a basketball player makes. Many of these guys have their heads on straight and do TONS of charity work. Google "Steph Curry charity" or "LeBron James foundation" if you want just two prime examples. There are many, many more like those two. Why not talk about the kids who are getting their college education paid for by LeBron James instead of focusing on the size of James' contract? Rookie Zion Williamson is paying the salaries of all the Pelicans arena employees during this work stoppage and as a rookie he is certainly not up there with the big $$$ guys.

Understandable.
But I miss the chance to see The Raptors vs Lakers.
Side note - with sports being cancelled ans no games happening. My son got some offers from schools even though their season had not started yet. All these poor kids in their graduating years in all the sports. Work so hard and then.....

I see that I hurt your "feeling"?
Don't go to movies, watch TV, most pro sports are rigged/scripted, and hardly any musicians make the amount of money that movie stars and pro athletes make. There are exceptions of course.

You capitalized my entire username, oh boy!
For as many that do good, there are more at live that lifestyle that is detrimental culturally and to women to boot.
Not to mention that Foundations and charities exist for the rich as deductions and write-offs.
IMHO, athletes are paid to much $ for what they do. Other professions do not get paid enough. That alone was my point.
