The Traveling Wilburys?
Nope
Laterz
1 member of a top 70's band
1 member of a top 80's band
The band name more akin to a 60's TV show
Are you referring to Star Fleet Project? The name of the "band" was technically Brian May & Friends.

Yes,
Seems always calling it that was mistaken? I dig out the vinyl and you are correct, thanks
Starfleet!!! Nice one, gotdrumzzz.
My turn?
Original 5-piece lineup consisted of members from the following countries
England
Panama
USA
Ireland
Czechoslovakia
and none of them could sing worth a damn. 😛

No, but you're on the right track.
Another clue: The Czech member had a solo hit in the 80s.
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Correct!
wow. you guys are good
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Great job! I was too late checking back.

Thread dropped to page 2 so bumping up. Figure I get to take a turn since nobody jumped in.
Two longtime members served in the Armed Forces before they were in this band . One enlisted in the US Army at 17, completed basic training, got a general discharge after a few months on the basis of "lack of suitability to the military lifestyle." The other was in the US Air Force - taught martial arts in Europe for the Strategic Air Command.
(@jackfrost - I know you know, but give folks a couple guesses!)

Grateful Dead??
Yessir. Nice shot without google. Again no google - Can you tell us which members?
[Edited on 4/14/2020 by BrerRabbit]
I know Jerry was Army.
Not sure how long he lasted
Pretty sure that Phil was USAF- played horn in the band
Not sure about Pigpen
Weir was too young
(No google involved)
I’ll have the next question by tomorrow AM for y’all

Mickey Hart was in the Air Force . I don't know about Lesh
googled Lesh: Successfully auditioned for the Sixth Army Band, but was not allowed to join because he was "deemed unfit for military service".
Robert Hunter enlisted in the National Guard, six months training, six month tour of duty.

got the right answer for the wrong reason
next question
This "Band" was led by a multi - instrumental string player. His 4th album was the 1st one to be labelled as "band". Bandmembers included fiddle, mandolin, bass, drums, sax, and trombone. Jerry Garcia appeared as a guest on one of the solo albums, George Harrison co-wrote on a song on another. Don't let the glasses fool you, he will not be your fool.
David Bromberg
David Bromberg
winner!!
your turn
Giving this a bump up with a Q:
Some consider this the low point of my career.
Bozy, bozy bop-city-bop
David Lee Roth
cheated, I googled it - happy to report I didn't have it in my memory

Correct! Too easy I guess.
Shoot I like that song! Who doesn’t like a little Louis Prima now & again - great cover
Like I said, I cheated, did google.
It is pretty hard to make these google proof - I googled like mad on the Mahavishnu and Starfleet , nothing.
Ok, here's one:
This band had a top ten hit - prevented from becoming #1 because of the #1 song by an artist of Armenian descent posing as a Native American.
She wasn't even a half breed?! 😮
The Allman Brothers Band...
Tough one - guessing the artist of Armenian descent posing as a Native American might be.....Cher? Know that’s not the question tho
Song wasn't much, but the album cover was pretty good
ok yep, Ramblin Man could not budge Half Breed
you got the ball fanfrom71
Name the artist, not band, who first sang about some joker getting lucky and stealing his girl back from the singer.
Robert Johnson
