My little tribute

At Duane's funeral the band played "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" , always one of my favorite traditional songs. And loved Gregg's version on the Laid Back album. I was in NJ for the holiday weekend when I heard about Gregg, so sat down with my guitar and wrote some lyrics to the tune to try and deal with the sadness I felt.
I WAS STANDING IN NEW JERSEY
WHEN I HEARD THE SAD, SAD NEWS
GREGG HAD PAST ON, HOME IN SAVANNAH
AND I STARTED TO GET THE BLUES
ONE MORE BROTHER GONE AWAY NOW
TO THE PLACE IN THE BLUE SKY
REUNITED WITH DUANE AND BERRY
AND WITH BUTCH AND HIS SMILE SO SLY
THE ROAD GOES ON NOW, YES, FOREVER
AND THE SONGS WILL ALWAYS BE
THE ALLMAN BROTHERS SUCH A GREAT BAND
FOND MEMORIES FOR YOU AND ME
KEEP ON RIDIN' YOU MIDNIGHT RIDER
TO YOUR FINAL PLACE OF REST
IN OUR HEARTS NOW AND FOREVER
CAUSE YOU SIMPLY WERE THE BEST
Peace and love to the immediate and the whole extended Allman Brothers family. We love and miss you Gregg🎸

That's sweet. You should play and record this and then share it with us.

Added one more verse:
You sang ain't but One Way Out babe,
Now it's time, go out that door.
Duane is waiting, Mama "A" beside him,
Lord says there'll be Trouble No More.
Peace

"Clapping".

What a great thread, thank you!
