Wow. Last night my wife the librarian came home with the Muscle Shoals DVD as something to watch for a low key evening. Buckeye tailgate saturday necessitated keeping it on the downlow Friday night. Anyway I am sure it has been said here before but damn what a great story. Obviously I knew a small amount from Al Paul's and Galadriel's books but I did not appreciate the vast array of artists that recorded in that town. Had no idea about the Swampers. If you have not seen it - get it. Just incredible. A nice short interview with Gregg about his brother. Great footage throughout. Just incredible.

Great, great documentary! Still don't understand why Bono was even in it - but that's another issue.
Folks who attended the GABBA Fest a few weeks ago got a real treat in seeing the Decoys! The documentary focused on the 4 original/main (?)swampers - but there was an on-going cast of players from the area. David Hood was originally scheduled to play at GABBA with the Decoys, but was replaced by Stan Robertson - also a southern phenom'!
If I had one complaint (other than the Bono issue), it would be the negligence to include Eddie Hinton's role in 'Shoals music in the film. I feel the producers were somewhat short-sighted in omitting him from the project.

Short sightedness and Eddie Hinton seem to be a recurring theme in music history unfortunately... 🙁

This is amazing! Just watched it the other day. It's also out in limited release in theaters (just made the rounds in my area). Loved the archive footage and thought it really captured that "greazy" essence and atmosphere, just as The Queen Of Soul Miss Aretha Franklin, put so well about the Muscle Shoals cats.
