That was great!
Both the story, and the performance.

Yeah, that's some way-cool $hit rightcheer!

Todd Snider's live shows/storytelling is always fun.
I've heard this actual story on his "Happy New Year Volume One" release.

Always fun to see Todd! I've had the pleasure of seeing him 5 or 6 times and he always delights. Check out his story for the song Tomorrow Never Comes. He's got some great songs like Beer run and Conservative Christian Right Wing Republican Straight White American Male. If you're not familiar with him, check out his albums: Happy to Be Here or East Nashville Skyline. Both are great. Or his book, which is chock full of his crazy stories.
Only issue with Todd is that he sabotages many attempts to gain more fans. Most recently, he was supposed to headline a gig down in Nashville and just never showed up. It was a big music gathering (Robert Plant played, and many others) and my friends flew in from Oregon for it, excited to see Todd. He kind of did the same thing with his first mentor and benefactor, Jimmy Buffet. At least he's still out there playing and touring.

Wow, thanks guys, I wasn't aware of Todd Snyder. He's great! Here's a cool version of Conservative Christian Right Wing Republican Straight White American Male with a great story for an intro that reminds me an awful lot of my own misspent youth:
Go Beaverton Beavers!

If you like his storytelling between songs, any of his live albums are good choices. Also check out his Hard Working Americans band with Neal Casal, Duane Trucks & Dave Schools.
My favorite Todd Snider story (partially because I'm fairly certain that I was at the show that this happened).
Also just because...

Great post. Also worth hearing David Bromberg's tale
