Most Likely You WILL See The Dead in July

Interesting to learn about the owner of the local Port Chester theater and see he has been very connected to the music scene and not just a corporate owner like the Beacon theater owners who want to take every last dollar from you

Don't be fooled Peter $hapiro is a poseur, never was a deadhead, and is very greedy.

and this comment on Peter Shapiro is based upon.....

Re: Shapiro
When I infrequently go to Brioklyn Bowl I see him running around checking the sound and lights, which I view as a good thing
When I went to the last Col. Bruce Hampton gig in NYC (BB's) Shapiro there solo on the dance floor intensely checking Bruce out. Th event was very sparsely attended and I think on a weekend night so I consider him a fellow fan, and that to me is also a good thing
From what Iknow the guy has done a lot to give more music to us all

Watch the wetlands documentary, he took that club over with his dad's money not because he loved music, and read any interview he's all about the money, and thinks he's akin to Bill Graham when $hapiro is greedy and an excellent example of everything that's wrong with the dead/jamband scene or what's left of it these days.

I guess you could say that Bill Gates is greedy, too, by referencing the fact that he's worth something like $100 billion dollars. But he's a serious philanthropist who has done tons of good deeds the world over, like eradication of communicable diseases in third world nations.
Hell, corporate America is built around greed. I'm not ready to buy your arguments about Peter Shapiro. Rich guys like to have a good time and sometimes help others have a good time. You haven't referenced any links to support your opinion that Shapiro is a schmuck.

If running a jamband club like Wetlands is your "get rich quick scheme" you are doing it wrong 😉
Shapiro deserves some criticism over the way Fare Thee Well has been handled, but if all he was interested in was money, there are a lot easier ways to get rich.
Everything about the way Brooklyn Bowl, the Capitol Theater, and the Lockn Festival are run seems compatible with somebody who really loves music. If Shapiro can make some money along the way, while maintaining the quality of music he is putting out there, more power to him.
If Lockn, the Capitol and Brooklyn Bowl are examples of "everything that is wrong with the jam scene" then I'd love to know who is doing it right.

Bonaroo-before it became less about jambands and got worse like it has the last few years, Peach Fest, Wanee, and other festivals besides Lockn are doing it right, and other venues that unlike the capitol theater don't charge a lot of money for tickets.
Yes the whole Fare the well thing is a total mess with tix, $hapiro letting scalpers get most of the tix, and other issues. I read on jambands.com how someone claimed that $hapiro had brought back dead mail order tickets when the mail order service for dead tickets never went away; but it was used by fans for the last two decades to get dead, ratdog, furthur/other ones, and Phil and friend tix.

Do your own research. Read articles about him and the comments people write. You'll find lots of information about how $hapiro is greedy and all about milking deadheads and music fans for as much money as he can get.

I'm not the one with vehement criticism of Shapiro, you are. Yet you fail to back it up with a link. Why should I do research? I don't even believe what you're saying.

The Newt, the only way you get somebody like Phil Lesh playing someplace as small as the Capitol is to charge a lot for tickets. Otherwise they would play a larger venue for more money. It's not like Shapiro can hold a gun to Phil's head and demand he play a small venue in Port Chester for $20 a ticket.
As far as I can tell, ticket prices for Brooklyn Bowl are very reasonable, and that venue has given a good NYC home to many bands that simply didn't have one before. Soulive, the Funky Meters and many of my favorite bands play there. Not to mention Shapiro allows taping at both the Capitol and Brooklyn Bowl, which is not the kind of thing a money-grubbing greedy huckster would do.
You are welcome to your opinion, but I know so many New Yorkers and ex-NYC residents who talk about Wetlands in its prime in almost religious terms. Even if he is motivated by money, Peter Shapiro has done a lot for the jam scene and made a lot of people happy.
Anybody in the music industry who aspires to be like Bill Graham, instead of like Simon Cowell, at least has SOME idea of what music is supposed to be about.

Where is the "like" button when I need it?

Then what's the point of even posting a "source" or link since you clearly won't believe it, or will claim it's not factual/valid?
I'm not writing an essay, and "sources" are not needed to tell how $hapiro is greedy and driven by money and not love of music like the dead, ABB, etc.
Peter $hapiro akin to Bill Graham on any level? $hapiro has more in common with Cowell and other greedy promoters than Bill Graham.
Also the wetlands club was already in it's prime, and doing fine long before $hapiro took it over with his dad's money.
