How do you Deadheads feel about this? Seeing an east coast show would be cool. Bill and Bob are already playing Peach Fest.

I'm excited about Lockn'. Glad Kreutzmann will be playing with Jorma and Jack.

I'm not into other really big shows. One of the comments mentioned rumored RFK shows. I've got some great memories of the Grateful Dead at RFK... don't think this lineup, with John Mayer, would get me there. I could be wrong though.

That music will be played forever. The Core Four are done. Various incarnations of bands will continue to play that music. For me, at this point, who is on lead guitar is not as crucial as Phil's bass playing. There is no one else that plays bass like Phil Lesh. We will never get Jerry back, of course, but the uniqueness of what Phil does is the next crucial element to the sound. IMO, of course.

And, I said Phil's playing, not his singing. 😛

I was very, very fortunate to have seen two of the Fare Thee Well shows and share a weekend with tens of thousands of Heads one more and one last time, so I've made peace with it.

However... $50 million for five show's work ain't chump change, so never say never.

Reading the commentary underneath those articles is always good sport. This was my favorite:

Mayer nor Lesh will be playing w/ the other three this fall. Hearing it will be Lenny Kravitz, Michael Anthony and Gregg Allman joining the three others. Have not heard yet what name they will be playing under.

Going to see Zen Tricksters tomorrow at Great South Bay Music Fest.
New Riders, Starship, Lou Gramm then Hot Tuna closes.
Good enough for me.
Less than 10 miles from our house.
35 bucks.
Cool breeze off the bay and some fresh Blue Point brews on tap.
Then I go back to the boat and fish the rest of the summer.
