Finally picked up MKB full album release on CD and Vinyl the other day. I've been listening to bits and pieces fo the album over the last couple years but never listened to album from start to finish. Trying to think of a recent release with a stronger collection of tunes and I don;t come up with much to compare it to.

Any thought and or suggestions for a recent release as good as this one? Say back to 1990 so I can include Ten from Pearl Jam.

You're talking about Marcus King right?

Great album. I'm sure I could come with a decent number but the one that comes to mind is 1372 Overton Park, by Lucero.

Very different type of music but one I love and reach for constantly.

The second Marcus King Band album is great. As for recent albums that have blown me away I'll go with Escaper- Skeleton Key. Also can't go wrong with Greensky Bluegrass- If Sorrows Swim or Shouted, Written Down, & Quoted

Isaac, I think they are talking about the second album. A lot of people don't realize they had another album out before the second one. The first record is very good as well although not on the level of the second one. Having Warren Haynes input on the second record sure didn't hurt. Looking forward to seeing if their next record is anything as close to as good as the last one. If it is they are really going to explode onto the scene. Seen them twice and they are a monster live.

So good live. Seen them 3 times this year as an opener. Getting the full show experience again this fall

I'm literally listening to Shouted, Written Down & Quoted as I reading your post.

Great minds think alike.

For me it’s definitely Stapelton’s records. All three of them. And I haven’t been blown away in a while.

Right behind them I’d have the Revialists Men Amongst Mountains.

I'm not that impressed with Marcus King's singing or playing. He makes JB of WSP sound like a great singer and guitar player.

MKB makes a great bar band but I would not and have not paid a lot to see them, as they're not that special or good.

Whereas I would say Marcus King is an outstanding guitar player - one of the very best guitarists I've seen live in the last few years. I didn't see Derek Trucks live until he was 25 - so I'd give Marcus the nod as the best under-25 year old guitar player I've ever seen live in my entire life.

Fortunately for Marcus, both Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes have a different opinion than Newt. I have never seem him live but would like to. His records are good and i enjoy him.
