Mike Bloomfield

36 years today we lost him but his spirit lives on. Here's some noodling with Little Wing at his home in Mill Valley in '73.

Great player, gone way too soon.
Not the best at posting links, be sure to listen to the YouTube version of One Way Out from 12/13/68, the Lost Concert Tapes (Live at Fillmore East), Al Kooper, Bloomfield et al.
Yes, that, One Way Out. Very, very similar to the later ABB version.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Here ya go. It was included in the box set released a few years ago.

r.i.p. michael
it's hard to believe mike's now been gone almost as long as he was here. i can still remember reading about it in the paper (his passing actually made the front page here in cleveland).
pixielf i can never thank you enough for the wonderful bloomfield shows you shared with me years ago.

My pleasure!

That surely is one fine piece of music!

"Bloomfield, Kooper & Stills: Super Session" was always one of my favorites. This album really cooks.
"Stop" from that album is my favorite Bloomfield cut.

That first riff gets me every time. There's nothing like it!

That was one great Lp. I think I wore the grooves out on that one. Season of the witch keeps playing in my head!!!

Pretty sure that was Stephen Stills playing on Season of the Witch. Also enjoyed that album. There was an album I picked many years ago entitled Live at Bill Grahams Fillmore West that has some real nice playing by Mike too.

Made my day. Thanks!

Yes you are correct that is Stills on Season of the Witch. That came out maybe 1968?

It was nice to go back and give a listen to that album!! Thank you for posting that link Joyful.

Both sides of "Super Session" are amazing. I have never heard the live album of Bloomfield and Kooper, though as I recall, Santana is on it, right? Any reviews of that album?

+1
I remember reading somewhere that Bloomfield absolutely HATED SOTW with a passion! Could be wrong, but I remember seeing a quote from him saying, "I wouldn't play SOTW if it was my mother's last wish on her death bed".
IMO, one of the best songs on the album as well as Holy Modal....
Also a big fan of sequel Kooper Session, with Shuggie Otis!

Super Session brings back memories. Albert's Shuffle is such a neat song - Wow, what a groove! That album came out just when I started college. We never hear Al Koopers voice anymore - memories, memories. Live at The Filmore is also really good.
