Cool nice, hadn’t seen this either - there’s this one, the upcoming Nov release of jazz takes of their songs - the countrified Pickin on the Allman Brothers from years ago, Chuck’s big-band versions......
A bottomless wellspring of brilliance - that’s the ABB - Deep Purple doing Hot Lanta, what else need be said Cool
Cool looking CD, as is the Warren & Joe B’s Tommy Bolin tribute CD that was mentioned

Yeah, the Pickin On bluegrass ABB is good.

I was blown away when I seen/heard Deep Purple doing Hot Lanta. Would like to here them put that out on a live recording with proper sound.

Perhaps if they had made Zakk Wylde that would have been the direction 😉

You can preview the tracks here: https://www.allmusic.com/album/midnight-rider-a-tribute-to-the-allman-brothers-band-mw0002649204

Most of it sounds like average bar band cover. Can't say I needed a metal version of "Statesboro Blues". Even Leon Russell sounds rough

Thanks for the morning laugh. Statesboro is too funny. Can't fault them for trying to sound just like the ABB.

Some of those covers are pretty bad from the small samples. Almost insulting the average bar band there. LOL

Artimus and Steve Morse seemed to be the only "good" versions and even then when the singing started on Whipping Post it lost me quick.

I never got the Tribute album thing.

I never got the Tribute album thing.

I dig different takes on a band's catalog. They turn out better when there is a more eclectic group of musicians so you can see how wide the band's influence is. Molly Hatchet and Pat Travers isn't exactly casting a wide net.

There was a nice tribute to The Band a few years ago, and Dylan tributes are almost always good (the 30th Anniversary and I'm Not There soundtrack are some of my favorites). The Levon Helm and Gregg Allman tributes were pretty solid.

There have been a few Allman Brothers tribute albums over the years, but the musicians involved never measure up. The exception is that Pickin' on album, since the players are top notch and are interpreting rather than emulating the Allmans.

This one was kind of interesting, a few different takes. Not everything as successful, but at least they put their own spin on things - "Black Hearted Woman" and Rolling in the Hay's "Jessica" are both pretty fun.
