Midnight Rider Director Pleads Guilty

2yrs in jail and a $20k fine is not insignificant.

Well, that was certainly fast. I've been following this since the beginning. The local news (this took place in my neck o' the woods) said that jury selection would begin this week.
Yes, that is certainly a significant punishment. The other Executive Producer, Jay Sedrish will still face charges. I'm guessing these two were the main culprits in deciding to shoot on the tracks without permission. I don't know if there can be justice here. I don't mean to be harsh, but even if their reckless actions weren't intended to cost a human life (oops!), they did. No civil suit award or time spent behind bars can un-ring this bell.
Here's hoping Sarah's family, friends and loved ones can move on in their lives.

It seems that Jay Sedrish will not be serving any time:

Thanks for the info. Considering the fact that Miller's careless disregard for safety resulted in the death of a 27 year old woman, I'd say he got off quite easily. He'll be out in two years, maybe less. And $20,000? Hell, my Chevy Silverado cost more than that.

"The system needs to be better, and we ended up being the poster child.”
What a crass, insensitive thing to say.

Glad that at least some degree of justice was served here. He may have deserved more, but he was definitely guilty of negligence at the very least..
It will be interesting to see what happens to the film project. With the director behind bars, it might just die on the vine and go away quietly, although the cynical side of me says the studio might just try to proceed with a different director.

Pretty light sentence for such gross negligence, but a whole lot better than nothing.
Glad he dropped his ridiculous 'not guilty' plea.
Did he ever apologize to the family?
