Wow thanks for posting, I always wanted to hear this but understood that Jagger had took all the masters and refused to let them be heard/released. just read that "Checkin' Up On My Baby" was included on Jagger's solo "Best Of" album. I saw the Red Devils in London around this time and they were fantastic! Still give the "King King" album a whirl once in a while also.

You're welcome! I never heard of it before and saw it yesterday. There are some fun songs on it. I'm familiar with Bill Bateman fem the the Blasters. Thanjks for the King King tip as I see at Amazon for a $6 download.

Really enjoyed it. No idea why Jagger would refuse to release this? That sure is an interesting version of OWO! Hey, Cubchubby, your tagline, Hayes Carll right? Love Hayes, great songwriter.

Back in the Nineties The Red Devils and their lead singer's / harp-player Lester Butler were very popular in the Dutch blues circuit and their success even brought them a spot on the mainstage of the Netherland's most popular rock festival Pinkpop (longest running rock festival in the world).
I was at that Red Devil's show and also saw them at other (blues) festivals. After a few years they got billed as Lester Butler & The Red Devils and after that Lester Butler recorded and toured with Lester Butler's 13, up until his drug related death. I think he died from a heroin overdose within days after playing his last show. That show was in the Netherlands at the Moulin Blues Festival in Ospel which i attended (and attend every year). lester Butler is still honoured at this festival with a big banner with his photo next to the mainstage. A few Lester Butler tribute shows were organised there as well including an official tribute show for the launch of a DVD of their last show which was attended by many of his bandmates and family members. His family was moved to tears.

For vinyl affiniciados check out the vinyl release of their "legendary" King King album on the Dutch "Music On Vinyl" reissue-label. Produced by Rick Rubin. The are a zillion blues bands / harp players that still have their "Automatic" on their setlist.

Their live shows were awesome.

Really dig Lester Butler! Discovered him too late, though. 🙁
