Marcus King Band w/Bishop Gunn & Scott Sharrard @The Brooklyn Bowl, NY 6/5/19

Marcus King played 3 Nights @The Brooklyn Bowl on June 5th, 6th, & 7th. I caught just the 1st night, but after seeing the band and then the set lists from all 3 nights, I wish I'd caught them all.

You can sample a good portion of Mr. King and the band's music by clicking the videos for each night on the setlistfm page. Very diversified set lists for each of the 3 night stint. Great stuff. Jamie McLean opened nights 2 and 3 while Bishop Gunn opened the 1st night. I love Bishop Gunn and they can go far if they keep their egos in check.
I saw Scott Sharrard preshow and knew he was guesting for Bishop Gunn, but he also came out later to close out the night with Marcus King.
With the Gunn he came out and played What It Do, a new song he composed with Bishop Gunn and then a nice closing version of Hey Jude also joined on stage by D-Vibe the keyboard wizard from Marcus's Band.
After a short stage set up the Marcus King Band came out out firing on all cylinders. Pretty much the music was all new to me. As of now I only own Carolina Confessions and he didn't focus on that material. I now have a couple discs to focus on obtaining. I'd only seen Marcus as a special guest and never full set, this was sweet. Tight and talented, D-vibe seemed to have some gadgets that provided a unique sound jamming while adjusting the pitch or key somehow, Good stuff. For his encore Marcus came out with Dean Mitchell for a love song I Won't Be Here and closed by bringing out Drew Smithers, Scott Sharrard, and Travis McCready for a closing version of Blackfoot's Train Train.
The live show's energy surpassed anything I felt off the new disc and I like the new disc. 23 and meant to be, 24 and so much more, the youth and sound of both bands is a pleasant prospect of future musical endeavors by both groups, Long Live Rock!

I divide my time between NYC and South Florida and spend at least one month a year in Puerto Rico. Hey, I have no right to complan being retired. But I end up missing a lot of great shows when I am not in NYC. This is one show I would have been at particularly with Bishop Gunn opening up.
In 2015, I went to the Christmas Jam and went to the Orange Peel and Marcus King was performing, The talent was immense but after a while everything sounded the same. To see him now is a completely different performer. I caught the Relix feed from, I think, the second night and really enjoyed it. The band sounded great and the songs had more variety. What was even more Wild was seeing my brother at the front of the stage during the feed and I texted him to make sure it was him. Lo and behold it was. Have to find a way to see them again soon.
Bishop Gunn is interesting. The potential is there but I wonder why they have not been booked on other tours.

thanks - can't wait to hear these
and to see MKB next time they come around. saw a couple great shows last year.
